My husband loves his bacon - he can eat it morning, noon & night 😉
So, for Supper tonight, I made him a man-size BLT: a little different than what he's used to 😘
I precook my bacon, keeping some in the 'fridge for snacking - and freezing the rest in 2-piece portions, wrapped in wax paper & stored in a freezer Ziploc in the freezer for morning quick bites.
Last night when I cooked the bacon, I kept out enough for today's sandwiched in the 'fridge, last night; and it did just fine reheated for tonight's Supper fare 😊
This sandwich is a meal by itself; but I did add some Bread & Butter pickles alongside.
#Note: Read the recipe all the way through before beginning the making of sandwiches.
VAL'S FANCY BLT SANDWICH ~serves 2
10 slices Bacon, precooked & cut in half * 1 med. White Onion * 3 lrg. Iceberg Lettuce leaves, sliced * 2 med. Tomatoes, sliced thin * 1-1/2 in. chunk block Cheddar Cheese, shredded * Mayonnaise (to preference) * Dijon Mustard (to preference) * 1 tsp. grnd. Black Pepper * 2 tsp. Paprika * 8 slices Lrg. Homestyle Bread * Butter-flavor Cooking Spray * Lrg. Skillet w-lid
1) Prepare your sandwich ingredients to keep the process flowing smoothly while making the sandwiches …
2) Blend together the mayo, mustard, and 1 tsp. of the Paprika:
3) In a large skillet, sauté the onions over med-low heat until tender; sprinkle with the pepper & remaining paprika - gently stir to blend thoroughly.
Reduce heat to low:
4) Add bacon - cover skillet with lid, and continue cooking until bacon is heated all the way through:
5) As the bacon warms & onions deliciously soften; lay the bread slices out on the counter, spreading with the mayo-mustard blend … or either mayo or mustard (whatever you and your spouse prefer: I like the mix, Holland likes just mustard).
When the bacon is completely heated through, begin building the sandwich, as listed below the picture featured here (if you are building a triple decker sandwich for your husband, spread both sides of the center bread slice, and begin the bacon-onion layer as with the previous slice of bread) - spread last slice of bread and place it atop the bacon-onion mix:
6) Slice at an angle, and enjoy! 😊
