VAL'S UPGRADED SLOPPY JOES Recipe; Ocean Park-WA

Tonight, we enjoyed a quick meal of sloppy joes and potato chips - I know … it's a junk food meal, but it is junk food that tastes good: and I did add healthy ingredients to the sauce 😉

I prefer making my own sloppy joe sauce recipe; but my husband likes Manwich, so that's how things went down tonight 🕊️

As you will see when reading through my recipe, I deviated quite a bit from the standard sloppy joe recipe. And we think the addition of the exotic chinese pepper spice, was also a good choice in vamping what would have normally been a plain jane sandwich 👌😁

Val's Upgraded Sloppy Joes Recipe ~serves 8

Val's Upgraded Sloppy Joes

1 can Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce * 1-lb ground beef * 1 small Onion, sliced * 1/2 medium Zucchini, shredded * 1 small, red, Sweet Pointed Pepper, shredded * 1/8 c Mushrooms, chopped * 1/2 tsp. ground Szechuan Pepper * Lettuce, thinly sliced * 1 c Cheddar Cheese, shredded * Onion Buns * 1 lrg. Skillet

Ingredients.

1) Thaw the ground beef, & prepare veggies ahead of time; refrigerate both.

2) Brown the meat - when cooked through, add the veggies: mix together, and  cook on low heat for 15 minutes - or until veggies are soft.

What a sweet pointed pepper, looks like.

Add veggies to browned hamburger; mix thoroughly.

3) Add sauce and continue cooking another 15 minutes.

Add sauce and simmer about 15 minutes, to blend flavors.

4) Turn burner off; prepare as shown … serve, and enjoy 👍

Small dollop of meat mixture on bottom bun; then lettuce, followed by cheese; place half of a large cooking spoon of meat mixture atop the cheese - then cover with bun top.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) responded to Tom Homan's warning on Sunday that obstructing immigration enforcement would lead to an arrest of "anybody," telling the border czar to come arrest him.

"Come after me. Arrest me. Let's just get it over with, tough guy. I don't give a damn," Newsom told NBC News on Sunday night.

The California governor defended the illegal immigrant population of Los Angeles, which was targeted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a wave of raids late last week, spurring the violent protests across the city.

Newsom said Homan needs to leave alone the "poor people just trying to live their lives," and insisted that the state needs to "push back" against the Trump administration, which has sought to control the law enforcement response to the protests.

"These guys need to grow up. They need to stop, and we need to push back," the California governor said. "And I'm sorry to be so clear, but that kind of bloviating is exhausting. So, Tom, arrest me. Let's go."

Newsom has been critical of the Trump administration's move to deploy the National Guard to the area, which he sees as unnecessary given the state's resources. On Sunday, he claimed President Donald Trump has "manufactured a crisis and is inflaming conditions" as the protests continue into the night.

Earlier on Sunday, he requested that the administration revoke its deployment order, deeming it "unlawful."
