Old-Fashioned Hamburger Steak w-Onion Gravy Recipe ~4 patties
1-1/2 lbs. Hamburger * 1/2 c Breadcrumbs * 1 lrg. Egg * 1 tsp. Onion Powder * 1 tsp. Garlic powder * 1/2 tsp. Black Pepper, ground * 1 tsp. Salt * 1 TBSP. Worcestershire Sauce * 2 TBSP. Butter * 1 lrg. Onion, sliced into thin rings * 2 TBSP. all-purpose Flour * 2 c. Beef Broth * Salt & Pepper to taste * Mixing bowl * Measuring spoons & Cups * Cutting Board * Kitchen Knife * Medium Skillet w-lid * Medium Saucepan w-lid * Cooking Spatula * Foil * Dinner Plates
PATTIES: Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, seasonings & Worcestershire Sauce - mix & shape into 4 oval steaks.
Sear in hot skillet until browned on both sides; remove and set aside (I placed mine in the oven, set to warm).
RICH ONION GRAVY: Over medium heat, melt butter in the same skillet - add onion rings & cook until soft and golden.
Sprinkle flour over caramelized rings & stir 1 minute; slowly stir in the beef broth, scraping up browned bits: reduce heat to simmer. Return hamburger steaks to skillet - cover & simmer 10-12 minutes until gravy is thick and glossy.
