Today, is Rosh Hashanah - a Jewish High Holy Day ✡️☝️, that marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year 1️📅 In Israel, the country closes: shops, buses, and most restaurants … shut their doors from the afternoon before - and the roads empty out. Beaches and national parks fill up & get very busy.
This festive holiday, also known as the Day of Judgment; is one of the holiest times of the year for Jews, who believe it’s when the universe was created 🌌🌎🌍 It’s an occasion for prayer 🙏 & reflection on the past year; similar to the observance of America's New Year festivities that occur every January 1, here, on this continent.
Though I, as a Jewish Messianic Christian Believer, do stand in solidarity with Israel, I do not follow the strict orthodox/rabbinical mandates: I adhere to Elohim's requirements & Yeshua's saving graces.
Yeshua, Himself, while He walked this earth, was born into a Jewish family with a looong Jewish lineage & was observant in the Jewish lifestyle - while maintaining Elohim's purity in those observances, and occasionally going against rabbinical mandates more focused on man's ego than Elohim's love-laced commands.
Yeshua's example is what I practice ⚖️👑
Sometimes my prayers are soft and gentle.
Sometimes my prayers are passionate and loud.
Sometimes my prayers are anguished and flowing from a broken heart.
And … sometimes my prayers are very human, and my language highlights my background - coming to the surface from a primal need.
Elohim knows that.
Elohim knows ME.
Elohim is my Father.
And I can stand before Him, in His glory, with my heart soft & gentle, angry & loud, confused & needy … or as naked as a jay bird & just as twitchy.
Elohim knows that about me.
He created me to be ME.
And no one else has to understand.
No one else gets to judge the unedited version of Me - that He is privy to.
Rosh Hashanah begins the High Holidays ☝️✡️🙏⚖️ and marks the start of a 10-day period of reflection and repentance in Judaism, called the Days of Awe. The period culminates in the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur.
I offer my prayers & petitions as I feel them ✝️✡️🙏 - knowing they will be heard and tended to as Elohim feels necessary … and today, I dip my tart apple pieces in sweet honey 🍎🍯🤲, savoring the tangy goodness of a New Year unfolding 📅🤲💎💖
