The California leader has been skewered for a misleading post about ICE raids

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is under fire for posting a shocking response to ICE raids, likening the workers at the targeted cannabis farms to 'kids' whose mothers have been taken from them. 

At multiple locations across southern California's Ventura County, just north of Los Angeles, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out raids on cannabis farms leading to a violent response from locals and farmworkers.

Videos of the operations at Glass House Farms show armored federal agents standing on farm roads and flanked by rows of what appear to be cannabis, or marijuana plants, while masked agitators hurled slurs and debris at law enforcement.

When the stand-off became too volatile, the National Guard and ICE agents popped tear gas which sent the crowds running in a frenzy.

One man even opened up fired upon the federal agents.  

But Democrats including Newsom and Rep. Jimmy Gomez immediately shared sympathy for the targets on social media.

'Trump calls me “Newscum” — but he’s the real scum,' the two-term governor added.

The governor was widely criticized for his comment.

'Democrats are having a fit because we're enforcing our laws against people working at a weed farm,' Vice President JD Vance wrote. 

'Why are you allowing small children to work in a drug farm?' commentator and LA native Peachy Keenan responded to Newsom. 

'Not too late to delete this,' political strategist and '10 Minute Drill' host Matt Whitlock wrote.

In a statement to the Daily Mail DHS confirmed eight children were rescued as a result of the raid.  

'At the California marijuana facility, ICE and CBP law enforcement rescued 8 unaccompanied migrant children from what looks like exploitation, violation of child labor laws and potentially human trafficking or smuggling,' a DHS spokesman said.

'Yet, Gavin Newsom, Ruben Gallego and other politicians continue to demonize and attack the law enforcement officers who bravely rescued these children.”

Stunningly, Newsom was not the only Democrat to provide political cover for the violence that broke out at the ICE raid. 

Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., wrongly claimed the facility was not for cannabis production. 'Instead of prioritizing dangerous criminals Trump is targeting families that have been here for years picking our food,' he wrote, reposting the same video as Newsom and Gomez.

'The public outcry and protests are occurring because the American public knows this is wrong.'

Similarly, California Democratic Rep. Jimmy Gomez bizarrely - and wrongly - insinuated that the cannabis operation was actually a berry farm. 

'How many MS-13 gang members are waking up at 3 a.m. to pick strawberries? O’yeah, zero!' the Democrat oddly claimed.  

'Trump said he’d go after “bad hombres,” but he’s targeting the immigrant farm workers who feed America. Either he lied — or he can’t tell the difference.'

Gomez was apparently unable to discern the difference between a drug and berry farm.

'Just actively dishonest to keep pushing this narrative when it’s been widely reported since this afternoon that this is a criminal warrant being served at a cannabis farm - not “farm workers who feed America,"' Fox News' Bill Melugin said, calling out Gomez for lying.  

'There is no food being grown here. No strawberries either.'

The offices for Senator Gallego and Rep. Gomez did not respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment. 

'Glass House Farms were visited today by ICE Officials,' the company wrote in a statement on X.

'The company fully complied with agent search warrants and will provide further updates if necessary.'

Its unclear how many arrests were made, but DHS released a statement indicating it was carrying out operations on individuals with criminal warrants.

It was very foggy this morning & very dusty this afternoon; Independence rocked on her support legs all day long, when wind gusts ripped through here. I drank my coffee and watched the grit clouds filter through the evergreens.

Foggy here today - travel warning issued.

I don't care how Holland wants to spin things … I am not noticing any improvement in the air quality: the WA air, here in Ocean Park, seems to be just as dusty as Yuma-AZ & Quartzsite-AZ - and the wind gusts are comparable to those we withstood in Kingman-AZ. The weather is just plain weird everywhere, and seasons are off-kilter.

And Holland - because he did not fall into bed until after 6 AM, slept through it all.

While Holland slept, I watched 'The Quest' featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme & Abdel Qissi - all the fighters were stellar cast, but these 2 are my favorites. I don't particularly like blood sporting events, but I do like this movie; and will watch it along with 'Zandy's Bride' starring Gene Hackman and Liv Ullmann, every time they are available to watch. I have watched both so many times, for so long … I know the scripts by heart, but they always pull me in 😉

I saw a fella wearing something like this, and thought, "I can make one of those for myself & ease Holland's mind." The whole thing only took about 15 minutes from concept to button 😁

Holland insists I have an inhaler on my person at all times - especially when I am hiking; my jegging do not have front pockets & I do not always use a backpack. Lately, I've just been shoving it into the left cup of my bra … and that gets me strange looks from people wondering "why does that old woman have a square-tipped boob?" 😂🤣

Now, I can just slip this little glittery pouch over my watch band and boogie: and my husband can relax while I'm burning the calories, walking my fat ass off 👍😘

Still working on the "Lady" feature 😕 both Husbands (Bob gave up hope - Holland is still hopeful) seem to think I have … somewhere in my Heinz-57 DNA 🧐

Today I thought I'd make fish for our Friday meal … and I knew just the recipe I was hungering for 😉

In this recipe, I use tilapia; but trout, red snapper, halibut, or swordfish can be substituted.

I first made this recipe in July of 2019 - and tonight, Holland will be the only man who has enjoyed this delicious fish recipe, with me 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨 

For sides - I made steamed baby potatoes with carrots, & cornbread with sweet peppers & cilantro … this is my own recipe, pulled together because the little peppers need to be used: I had made cornbread with jalapeno's in my last marriage, and that was interesting; so, today in this marriage, colorful sweet peppers will be just as interesting, and tasty 😊

#NOTE: Read all the recipes before you begin this meal, and stagger the food prep & cooking accordingly - done in this manner, everything will get done around the same time 😘

The fish & cornbread use the same oven temperature to cook; so, you can slip the fish into the oven nearing the end of the cornbread baking … or, you could finish cooking the cornbread and remove from the oven, cover with foil - then bake the fish, which doesn't take that long to bake.

Fish With Cumin-Garlic Butter & Val's Cornbread With Sweet Peppers & Cilantro

FISH WITH CUMIN-GARLIC BUTTER ~ 4 servings

Cumin Garlic Butter: ¾ cup (1-1/2 sticks) unsalted Butter, room temperature * 1 Tablespoon minced Garlic * 2 teaspoons ground Cumin * 1-1/2 teaspoons Hungarian Sweet Paprika * 1 teaspoons fresh Lemon Juice * pinch Cayenne Pepper * Sea Salt & Black pepper to taste

In a small bowl, combine ingredients; blend together. Let stand 1 hour at room temperature (Can be prepared 1 day ahead and refrigerated. Bring to room temperature before serving).

Cumin-Garlic Butter

Fish: 4 Tilapia fillets * 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil * 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice * 2 teaspoons ground Cumin * 1 teaspoon minced Garlic * Sea salt & Black Pepper to taste

Arrange fish in shallow baking dish. Mix oil, lemon juice, cumin, garlic, salt & pepper: pour marinade over fish. Let stand 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400-degrees. Spread some flavored butter on each fish fillet:

Bake fish in marinade - basting twice, for 12 minutes (or until fillets flake easily with fork tines).

Set fish on platter or plate - spread some of the flavored butter atop the fish. Pass remaining butter separately.

STEAMED VEGETABLES for 2: 2 large Carrots, peeled & sliced on the diagonal * 9 Baby Potatoes, center banded with a paring knife * Steamer Pot

Fill pot with enough water to reach the bottom of steamer basket; place veggies in steamer basket.

Place lid on pot & bring to a boil - reduce heat to medium high, and steam until veggies are fork tender - about 20 minutes.

VAL'S JIFFY CORNBREAD WITH SWEET PEPPERS & CILANTRO ~8" x 8" sq. pan

1 box Jiffy Cornbread Mix * 1 Egg * 1/3 c. Milk * 1 cup Sweet Peppers, diced small (I used Red & Yellow, both small) * 1 TBSP. Cilantro, chopped * 8' x 8" baking pan * Butter-flavor Cooking Spray

Preheat oven to 400-degrees.

In a medium bowl; whisk together the cornbread mix, egg, & milk.

Add the sweet peppers & cilantro: gently stir to blend:

Pour mixture into a buttered pan & bake as directed on the box.

Cornbread oven ready.

Cornbread looking good & smelling yummy ;-)

Husband says the meal was delicious - and a repeat 😊👌❤️

Well.

I tried.

I had every intention … I was prepared.

I was up on time … but I really hadn't had decent sleep throughout the night; I waited 2 hours 'til it was safe to send a text: then, I went back to bed.

I think I'll just quit trying … and let what happens, happen.

The more I try, the more difficult things become - like sleep, for instance 😕

I know I am being stretched in every way possible 🙏

I know when that happens, I tend to fall back into comfortable patterns: meeting with friends for a Bible Study is comforting; it is a pattern that started 2021.

I also know that old patterns can sometimes hamper developing new patterns.

So, being as we've been in this region since April - and I've only been able to make 1 Bible Study meet; I think I'll just go easy on myself and roll with the flow of whatever it is Elohim is doing in my Life in the moment.
