July 30th: We wanted to visit the Grand Teton National Park - we'd seen pictures of it, and we were in the general vicinity … so, we drove there this morning.
We had to drive through the west side of Yellowstone National Park again - but, it is what it is.
We grabbed a chinese lunch to enjoy at lunch time :-)
Goal is Jackson, Wyoming.
Flashing lights and racing ranger vehicles in front of us had our thoughts turned towards a possible car wreck in front - instead, we saw that 3 Park Rangers had been deployed to stand guard over a buffalo … Yellowstone.
Sulfur plain; steaming geysers.
Holland really liked this colorful runoff …
New blacktop laid since Friday; Yellowstone.
Geyser field; 'Biscuit Basin'.
Lunch: Holland = Sweet & Sour Pork; Me = Orange Chicken; both with Fried Rice & Egg Roll; the Egg Flower Soup was the real deal - the chicken broth was not bouillon.
A visitor showed up while we ate; Long-horned beetle Monochamus scutellatus (White Spotted Sawyer Beetle); Old Faithful on-ramp area.
NO MORE BOB LINK in my New Life.
Passed the Continental Divide Line in Yellowstone-Wyoming.
Isa Lake - Continental Divide; Yellowstone national Park-WY. Internet surfing picture.
Isa Lake: (https://www.nps.gov/places/000/isa-lake.htm)
New road laid most of the way …
Headed towards Jackson-WY
We had no clue there were SO many crossings of the Continental Divide - live & learn :-); 7, 988 ft. elevation.

Lewis Lake-WY:

Pretty, straight-as-arrow conifer trees with little pom-pom-puff needles; White Bark Pine - Lewis Lake.
Holland noticed the 'herd of turtles' window sticker (his fav saying, "we're off like a herd of turtles"); & I noticed the cowboy ;-)
Road work ruined a beautiful waterfall photo op … getting through the tight the construction area took all your attention; and by the time you could raise your eyes past the cones, concrete barriers, sketchy planking, machinery, roaming men, etc.., the waterfall was out of shot :-(
Going after that new Senior Lifetime Parks Pass.
We were directed to the Colter Bay Visitor Center - half an hour away.
We have passed into the Grand Teton National Park-WY
We couldn't see what had everyone excited … but it was dicey getting through the throngs of people; some walking right out in front of traffic to get a look. We are longer than a semi; stopping on a dime won't happen.
Grand Teton National Forest - DEADWOOD.
New Pass Card; covid BS changed everything. $$$$$ is what matters, now. The bright side of a asinine governmental situation, is that my New Card has my New Name on it - and that's a good thing :-)
The Colter Bay Visitor's Center was another Mall layout - very expansive, very busy: the Visitor's Center was "at the end of the sidewalk (2 mile long sidewalk) - cross the crosswalk, and you can't miss it." My hair was damp, and I was out of breath (and out of patience: it is hidden in the freaking trees!) by the time I located it. I was in no mind to dicker with a testy Ranger, who was giving the government speech of why the the Senior Lifetime Pass is "no longer transferrable." Bottom line: covid necessitates another government money-making scheme to fleece the people - specifically Senior Americans; and spousal death survivors. I waved my hand, shutting him up - threw him an irritated glance - shoved the money at him and walked away with my Pass Card … paid for twice.
But driving through States, we will be driving through National Parks - like we did, today. The card is needed - there is no place for us in the National Forest Campsites, and scenic enjoyments are sparse; free passage is preferable.
National Parks for for drive-by's ONLY.
Thank You, Lord - forgive my bitching.
Teton Range Plaque.
Not only is our 5th Wheel extra-long, but our pickup is longer than 25-feet; NO WAY we could ever camp in a National Park Campground.
Cowboy in the buff - nothing on but his cowboy hat. Holland rolled his eyes; LOL
Snake River runs through …
Snake River.
Both of us making new memories, for our New Life together.
We are in Jackson Hole … and NOT A SINGLE mention of The 'Hole-in -the-Wall Gang'. Nada. But there are RV sites going for $185/night AND UP … no longer than 25-feet TOTAL LENGTH with vehicle.
National Parks is a big disappointment for us - not worth the hefty fee to 'enjoy'.
National Parks Ads are total BS.
Holland is driving straight through to South Dakota; there may be an RV resort there, where we can park.
Mind reset.
What??? It looks like someone hung air fresheners on telephone lines. Holland thinks it is some sort of grounding breaker for lightening strikes.
Historical Marker - I like stuff like this; Wyoming.
Wagon wheel ruts have scarred the earth, marking an historical crossing.
As dusk settled over us, I was looking for a place to pull over; Holland was game to drive all night, but we are no longer teenagers, and Holland's shoulder was feeling the burn. Elohim showed us mercy, and we spotted a flashing {OPEN} sign for a roadside RV Park in landers-WY - in we nipped!
It's a nice little Park. We'll be here until Wednesday afternoon.
