MOD KNIT CONTRAST SOLE SLIPPERS; Kingman-AZ

MOD Knit Contrast Sole Slippers

I wanted a comfortable knit slipper set with a contrast colored sole - so, I tweaked this internet Public Domain Grandmother's Slippers Pattern to give me the sole I was wanting 😉

I also reworked the foot portion to fit my small foot size 👌

This pattern is knit with double strands of yarn throughout.

********************

Size: Adult

Materials: 1 Worsted Super skein EA of each of MC (rolled into 4 ct. balls of equal length double-strand) and 1 Worsted regular skein of CC (rolled into 2 ct. balls of equal length double-strand); Size #8 (5 mm) needles; Scissors; Ruler; Tapestry needle

Gauge: 7 sts = 2", 6 rows (3 ridges) = 1" in garter st on size 8 needles

Terms Used:

MC = main color

CC = contrast color

CO = cast on

Slipper (make 2)

CO yarn as follows: With one double-strand ball of MC, CO 10 sts; join one double-strand ball of CC & CO 9 sts; adding another double-strand ball of MC, CO 10 sts - 29 sts total on needle.

Foot portion:

Row 1: Knit across.

Row 2: With MC, knit 9 & purl 1; with CC, knit 9 with MC purl 1 & knit 9.

Repeat these 2 rows until garter stitch portion measures 5-1/2"- 6"-7"-8".

Begin ribbed toe portion:

Row 1: Continuing with the MC & CC sequencing,  *Knit 1, purl 1; rep from * across.

Row 2: Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches as they face you to form knit 1, purl 1 ribbing.

Repeat last row until ribbed portion measures 2 1/2"-3"-4".

Toe Tip shaping:

Decrease for toe: With MC, knit 2 together - 5 times; with CC, knit 2 together, knit 3 tog, knit 2 together = twice; with MC, knit 2 together x5 (14 sts)

Next row: Purl across, dropping CC & 1 ball of MC (14 st)

Next row: Working with 1 ball of MC now, *Knit 2 together, rep from * across (7 sts)

Next row: Purl across (7 sts)

Cut yarn, leaving tail long enough for sewing toe seam. Gather remaining stitches together (by running yarn through stitches on needle and pulling tight to close toe), then sew toe seam until you reach the garter stitch portion. Finish off and weave in ends. With separate length of yarn, sew up heel seam.
