MOD Summer Rhapsody Kitchen Towel Set

I designed this towel set months ago when my husband first mentioned that we would be wintering along the Oregon Coast, this year: previous desert-themed towels were out … and beach-themed kitchen towel sets would need to be designed and crafted - I don't mind. I like designing and crafting 👌

This cotton hand towel is simplistic in design, color, texture, & materials. Cotton yarn is good for dishtowels because it wicks moisture off hands and dishes (if you hand wash/hand dry dishes) – for this very reason, I prefer my handmade cotton towels, & dishcloths, over the recycled plastic fiber kitchen towels sold in stores that are basically worthless in wicking; they do have cute designs stamped on them, but their stiff plastic fiber material is not useful.

I used the odds & ends of previous towel leftover yarns to make up this simple towel design. This colorful stash-busting kitchen towel design is gentle on the eyes while it add a cozy ambience vibe to your kitchen 😉

By choice, we live a gypsy life. We like the freedom & flexibility 🤠 it allows us.

This year we will be shifting Independence between Ocean Park-WA (where we are set up, now ☕️☔️) & aiming for the southernmost Oregon coastal town of Brookings, near the California border later on, at the end of the Summer Season here.

When I had finished the towel, and was looking at it spread out before me, it reminded me of a field of flowers: the only word that spoke to my gypsy heart, was [rhapsody] 🌹🌺🎶🌞

Rhapsody is an effusively enthusiastic or ecstatic expression of feeling = "effusively" means expressing feelings or emotions, especially positive ones like pleasure, gratitude, or approval, in a very enthusiastic and unrestrained way; "enthusiastic" means having, or showing eager enjoyment, interest, or approval; "ecstatic expression" means feeling very happy and full of excitement … the Spring sunshine, & Summer warmth brings out these emotions; and time spent on the beach adds a special bonus to the atmosphere 😁

This morning Holland drove into Longview to celebrate his brother Scott's BD - I stayed home.

I was so miserable when I went to bed last night … and did not feel much better when the alarm went off, this morning. So, I stayed behind.

Besides spending time with Scott and his family, Holland also planned to shop around for a part he needs for an immediate project.

We both agreed 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨 that I would just stay home and tend to self-care🙏: so, that's what I did 😉

Salvaged Chicken broth for lunch.

I snuggled under Holland's heated blanket w-a Clive Cussler novel & my Tablet; it was chilly & windy, here, between snoozes.

My confession:

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat...

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school... The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about.. And we said okay..

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

If not, then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

Irena Sendler~Died,12 May 2008 (aged 98) Warsaw, Poland

During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an 'ulterior motive'. She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews (being German).

Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids).

She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto.

The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.

During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants.

She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely.

Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard.

After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family.

Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.

Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize.

She was not selected.

President Obama won one year before becoming President for his work as a community organizer for ACORN and Al Gore won also --- for a slide show on Global Warming.

My God – the Creator of the Universe, that magnificent and fantastic realm Earth exists in – my Lord, My Savior … left his glorious place beyond the clouds to come down here to Earth 2025 years ago to walk among us; loving mankind, redeeming mankind, and being the example to us of how to amplify the triune aspects that make up the nucleus of the Godhead (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

Yeshua came to us as a human baby.

He could do that because He IS Creator: nothing on Earth or beyond Earth could exist but that He made it so. And because He understands how to combine atoms to form things … he also understood how it is possible for a mature being to become a forming infant. He DID it 😃

We are told of his miraculous conception … and how John the Baptist while in his mother’s womb leapt for joy sensing the presence of Yeshua in Mary’s womb.

We are told of His earth birth; and of how Elohim, Father of all, protected his life from certain death. Though Yeshua was born to die, his infancy, was not the time.

We are told, that as a young boy – possibly 8 yo, He schooled the Temple scholars and Priests of His day.

We are told how as a young man, and as a guest at a wedding, He performed His fist miracle by turning jars of water into wine when the wedding wine ran out.

We are told of Yeshua’s water baptism by John the Baptist, and of the ensuing baptism of the Spirit when He was a man of about 31 years of age.

We are told of His entourage that consisted of Disciples (followers) from just about every walk of life, though primarily made up of local Jewish fishermen.

We are told of His miracles, His parables, His foresight, His great love for humanity, and of His bravery and courage in facing down Lucifer and His own impending death at the Passover Holiday (a major Jewish Spring festival that celebrates freedom by remembrance observances of the ancient Exodus from Egypt).

We are told of His betrayal (his life exchanged for 30 pieces of silver),  His trial, His death on Calvary when He was 33 yo … how his body was claimed by His earth mother and his loving women friends: we are told of His wonderful resurrection that followed 3 days later.

We are told that following His raising from the dead, He showed Himself to several of his followers – He cautioned them not to touch His physical form (the atoms were still configurating).

We are told of His assentation into the clouds as His followers stood below, watching and hearing His promise that He would some day return, coming in His full glory from the clouds back to Earth at a future date. He could not tell them when because He, Himself does not know: only The Father knows the date.

We do not know the date, but we have been told the signs to be aware of – the signs leading to that date. We have been told to be ready.

Are you ready? I am! I’ve been ready my whole life 😉

Frankly, I’m weary of Earth and its strangeness that gets weirder and meaner every day.

But I don’t argue with Elohim.

I’m ready to go if my Name is called; until then, I will tarry and wait – looking up and hoping. I have Yeshua, & loved ones, waiting for me to arrive in Heaven: I am anxious to hear my Name called. My heart longs as though waiting for a lover.

And because I KNOW my lover – the lover of my soul – loves me with an everlasting love, I celebrate this day … Resurrection Day; and look forward to that great and glorious day when the shout of the Arch Angel will reach my ears, lifting me out of this dying and decaying life here on Earth to be joined with all those, whose graves will also be opened, as they fly with me to meet Him in the clouds.

This Day is so MUCH MORE than marshmallow bunnies & chicks, candy eggs, jelly beans, chocolate rabbits, crosses & eggs, stuffed baskets, games, picnics, social get-togethers, TV sports, flowery hats & new dresses; ect.

Today is ABOUT HIM: Our Creator, Who 2025 years ago came to Earth to reconcile us to Him. Because He loves us. [The BC calendar, as we currently understand it, begins with the traditional year of Jesus' birth, which is designated as 1 BC]; In his 33rd year as a man walking Earth, He entered Jerusalem as the promised & prophesied Messiah; He was betrayed for roughly 4 months' wages for a skilled laborer (about $440.00, today); scourged until his back was a bloody mess-brutally hung on a rough-hewn wooden cross; buried in a sealed tomb, guarded by a roman detachment of 4 men that were rotated in shifts (about 50 men total) to guard the tomb for 3 days-was resurrected-revealed himself openly to witnesses … ascended into Heaven before the disciples' eyes: 1,992 years ago. Scripture tells us that 1 year in Elohim's timeframe = 1,000 years in human time; according to that calculation, Yeshua has only been gone a little over a 24-hour period of time.

He WILLINGLY came to live among us as a helpless baby, that He might help us grow, learn, mature: and love Him in return.

Today is about miracles, wonderment, truth, and love.

I never get tired of watching this … this {weaving in the womb} process was not detailed in video form in 1974, when I was pregnant: at first, the process was shown in a series of pictures presented in colored photo shoots, a LIFE magazine article; it was later presented in a book series on the wonders of Life - I bought, and read that informative Birth to Life Book, every week of my pregnancy.

I was amazed at the changes that were taking place in my body - and my baby's body, every week.

I was hosting life.

I talked to the life that was forming.

I played music - maybe my music choices were the reason Stacey was born hyper.

I read books: out loud.

I caressed my bulging belly. All day. Bob kissed, lovingly caressed, and protected my bulging belly: he knew my body held precious treasure.

Life begins at conception.

That life is called "a baby".

A baby is NOT a parasite.

A baby is a living miracle that only women are capable of becoming a part of.

Hosting a living miracle is a privilege: every woman cannot do this. It truly is a gift to conceive a baby and give birth.

I am always humbled with amazement that Yeshua chose this way to come to us.

Yeshua revered children, even telling us that unless we become as little children we cannot comprehend Him. Perhaps that is why there is such a mad rush to murder babies in the womb - and outside the womb.

Babies and children have much to teach adults.

This morning we drove into Rainier-OR to collect our 5 month pile-up of mail … then over the Lewis & Clark Bridge to visit Holland's brother Scott, SIL Lana … and rub Bleu's furry head 😉

I shot a text off to David, to let him know we had arrived - I didn't know if he was at his home in Longview, or camping on his beach lot in Long Beach - but either way, I wanted him to know that we are back in WA for a while: our friendship goes back a loooong way. The Fall of 1965, to be exact - when he pulled my hair on the school bus. Friends all the way through school years. He is the 1st person to throw Bob & I together; Doug was the 2nd - and that unintentional meeting stuck for 44 years. David's first wife & I were friends from the time they married, until she died 22 years ago; our older kids grew up together, and her second son and my middle granddaughter, were friends. David & Doug were staples in my life, and both drove me to the hospital with my toddler daughter when needed. When Bob graduated to Life beyond the clouds in the Winter of 2018, David came alongside me and gave his big brother support that sustained me until Holland came into my Life and changed my title from Widow to Wife. David open-handedly accepted Holland - and now, they too, are friends. David has been a part of my life all of my life in WA State.

His friendship is priceless; you can't make old friends 😘

Betsy fed, our stomachs started reminding us that they needed feeding to, so we made a quick drive-thru to quiet their grumblings … and I saw an interesting old building 🧐

I researched it later, and learned that it was an 1892 warehouse that is now the home of Pacifick Distillers. Finding information on this building required intense scrutiny and research - only by manipulating my photo shot and squinting hard to read the fuzzy sign lettering was I able to find the little snatches of newsy tidbits.

The Pacifick Distillery operates in the former Astoria Wharf and Warehouse Company building, a historic structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984. Built by the Carruthers family in 1892, the [bonded warehouse] building was initially used for warehousing purposes and has been utilized for various functions over the years.

In the 1890s, bonded warehouses were established as a way for importers to store goods that were subject to duty, allowing them to defer payment until the goods were actually sold or distributed. This practice offered a way for importers to reduce their capital outlay and inventory carrying costs.

Bonded warehouses provided a secure, government-supervised storage space for dutiable goods. Importers could store imported merchandise in these warehouses without immediately paying the duties owed.

Goods stored in bonded warehouses were subject to customs processes and regulations. Duties were paid only when the goods were released from the warehouse for distribution.

Bonded warehousing systems were introduced in the 1800s and were a significant development in international trade. The system allowed importers to reduce their initial capital investment and lower their inventory carrying costs.

The 1892 Astoria Wharf & Warehouse Company building in Astoria, Oregon, was constructed using local brick, basalt for its foundation, and old-growth Douglas fir joists supported by railroad iron. The brick was sourced from May & Thair, a local brickworks. The building's walls were a foot thick, and the foundation was three feet thick, showcasing its sturdy construction.

About an hour later, mail was collected; then we headed over to Kelso for a visit with family, friend, and family dog ☕️👂💞

Lana, I have learned, is a friend to Holland as David is a friend to me: she has been a part of his life for most of his life, also - even before she married Holland's brother Scott. They all met when they were kids; Holland was 4 yo, Lana was 7- or 8 yo. They went to the same school. They grew up in the same area. Even though there was a brief period of time when States separated them, they never forgot each other. When Holland's family moved back to WA (West Side Highway), Scott & Lana were teenagers and started dating; eventually marrying. Holland's 1st wife was Lana's sister, Becky. Lana has been a part of Holland's life, pretty much all of his life … so, when we are back in WA State, Holland likes to spend time at Lana's kitchen table; reflecting, rebooting, and recharging. Their friendship is priceless; you can't make old friends 💖

We drove the WA side of the Columbia River … to Ocean Park-WA, mere seconds from the Pacific Ocean. Coming around the Bay, I called David - who informed me he was at his beach property; so we stopped by there to reflect, reboot, and recharge with some more chit-chat, warm vibes, and good laughter 🤝🤣💖

And I came home with a bag full of good reads 😁

In real-life/real-time, Clive Cussler was actively involved in sea diving archaeological research. He founded the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA), a non-profit organization dedicated to exploring and preserving maritime heritage. NUMA, inspired by the fictional agency in Cussler's novels, discovered over 60 shipwrecks, including the CSS H.L. Hunley, the Mary Celeste, the U-20, and the RMS Carpathia. He also wrote non-fiction books about his underwater explorations.

Cussler himself led expeditions and participated in dives, using NUMA to support his maritime ventures. While he didn't identify himself as a formal archaeologist, he was deeply involved in the discovery and preservation of historical shipwrecks.
