Holland's Uncle's death has been confirmed - this was his father's brother; the middle child in a 9 children line-up.
Holland, Jake, & Crystal were talking about Jim's disappearance at Oak Point gatherings: "Have you heard anything about Jim?"; I didn't understand the significance, until Holland & I married (it wasn't any of my business - Holland was just a friend, at this point in time. I turned my ears off when it came to personal talk among them). Holland told me, after we married, that he'd caught sight of his Uncle's truck when it passed through Longview, one afternoon. He said, "I thought it was strange - no one had heard of Jim coming up from California; and there was a stranger driving his truck: Jim never let anyone drive his vehicles. But, whoever was driving that truck, drove from California to the Ranch & robbed Jim's house, leaving the door open, the safe open, the gun safe open. Jim never would have left everything open. Then we started putting two and two together, and came to the conclusion that in order for all of that to happen, Jim would have to be dead. And when his son drove to his ranch in California, Jim was nowhere to be seen & neighbor's said that they hadn't seen him for a while. Suspicion started growing. He ran with some sketchy people."
It's sad news … but, I am glad for Holland that the mystery has now been solved.
2021 - I had no clue that the murder has been so recent:

In May 2026, 55-year-old Nicholas Allen Beery of Igo, California, was arrested in connection with the 2021 murder of James Redmill Sr., a Shasta County man whose disappearance had remained unsolved for five years.
Case Background
Redmill Sr. was first reported missing on July 20, 2021 by his son, James Redmill Jr., after neighbors in the Trinity Alps Preserve area had not seen him for several days. He was last seen on or around July 8, 2021. Neighbors reported suspicious activity at his Wild Turkey Road property, including unfamiliar vehicles and items being removed. The case was initially investigated by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, but no significant leads emerged at the time.
Arrest and Discovery of Remains
In April 2026, the case was reassigned to Detectives Amanda Pruitt and Travis Williams. New information led investigators to focus on Beery’s neighboring property. On May 19, 2026, a multi-agency search team, including SWAT, narcotics task force, and the District Attorney’s Office, executed a warrant at Beery’s home. Behind the residence, they found human remains that were positively identified as Redmill Sr.
The Chico State Anthropology Department assisted in the careful recovery of the remains. During the search, authorities also seized multiple firearms (including illegal assault weapons), drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine packaged for sale.
Charges and Status
Beery was arraigned on May 21, 2026 and pleaded not guilty

Enhancements for intentional discharge of a firearm causing death and murder by lying in wait.
He remains in custody in the Shasta County Jail without bail and is scheduled for plea disposition hearings on June 2 and June 4, 2026 Action News Now. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing.
Victim’s Family Reaction
Authorities reported that Redmill Sr.’s son expressed gratitude to the investigators for the arrest, saying it brought closure to the long-standing case.
