LOOK CLOSER; Ocean Park-WA

August 8th: The sun showed strong today 🌞, so we escaped the 4 walls that echoed with oppressive news all week long.

Getting out of the house this afternoon - nothing in particular planned.

We knew we'd end up at the Ilwaco Marina eventually - and we did; but we made a slight detour along the way 😉

As we were driving along listening to tunes and glancing around … I spotted a van with a "Swamp Thing" banner sprawled across it's upper front end, so I asked Holland if we could backtrack and get a closer look at it:

The Pirate's Keep in Long Beach-WA, from Ocean Park-WA; 17 min (10.8 mi) via WA-103 S Pacific Way
This caught my eye, so Holland turned around so I could get a closer look.
The Pirate's Keep; #105 13th St SW, Long Beach, WA
The Bigfoot is a new thing out front - it wasn't there a week ago.

The tchotchke (pronounced: choch-key) business even has a Facebook Page, featuring it's strangely weird offerings 😂🤣

Leaving that roadside oddity, we continued forward. Coming into Ilwaco, the parking lot in front of the large wall-sized mural was pretty vacant and afforded a good photo op, so I collected a picture 😊👌

Then we crossed the street to the Marina … even behind windows, the sunshine felt wonderful: outside Betsy's cab it was very breezy despite the warm sunrays, so we kept the windows closed to keep hair from blowing under my sunglasses or into my mouth while we talked back and forth; and looked closer at things and people around us.

Holland explained to me that these huge concrete structures are for lifting hefty boats in-&-out of the water, and for lifting heavy, full, fish crates off fishing boats.

On our way back to Ocean Park, we were passing by Sid Snyder Drive, when our curiosity led us to the distillery alongside the Adrift Hotel. We were curious ✅ - neither of us had ever seen a distillery before; we decided to go inside for a closer look.

While there, we sampled a couple tastes; and weren't overly impressed with any of the tastings 😕

But, we want to experience (within reason) everything the peninsula offers that piques our interests. We did come home with a few purchases; for years I have been unable to find bitters anywhere, so when I saw these - I bought them. Long Beach-WA is known for it's cranberry bogs, & one branch of the Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice business operates in Long Beach-WA … so, I bought some of the Cranberry Liqueur (it's strong, but Holland says it will make a good mixer & I'll find some way to cook with it, too). The Coffee Liqueur appealed to both of us, and it will be a comforting additive to coffee or cocoa - to ease aching bones on cold winter days.

This was an experience; an experience we won't be repeating, but at least it's been checked off the Bucket List 🎯

Most of the samples were too strong! The Gin, & Moonshine, was like swallowing turpentine! $1 for a drop in each tiny cup.
This was awful! Nothing 'loving' about it.
Our purchases; the Bitters was the most expensive buy.

Then, we nipped in at the Klipsan Beach road, and instantly caught sight of two water skiers skipping across the ocean waves before they frog-hopped out of sight - then with a closer look, we watched a high-flying kite for a while.

While we talked back and forth, Holland mused that we might not be coming back this way once we leave. I was surprised: the ocean is his thing - but having a wife now puts a while new spin on things; he says living so close to the water is "just too risky, Baby". He's feeling the pinch of responsibility that he hasn't had to think about those 35 years before the happenings of 2022 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨 changed "me" to "we". Now, we both, have to think in terms of 2 instead of 1.

A localized earthquake could possibly cause a local tsunami … and wipe Hines, Oysterville, Nachotta, Ocean Park & Long Beach totally out, in a quick 30 minutes time: advisories to "go 2 miles inland & 100 feet in elevation" is worthless here. These low-laying peninsula elevations are below sea level, at sea level, or slightly above sea level; very flat terrain, and surrounded by water on all sides - the 28 mile Long Beach Peninsula is approximately 1.5 miles wide - short of the 2 mile safety estimations.

Coming back into Ocean Park, we noticed that Tu-Tu's was open for business … so we backtracked around the block and placed a supper order:

Tu-Tu's Lunch Wagon was open today, so we nipped in; #1505 259th Pl, Ocean Park, WA
Holland had the Pineapple Meatball; I had the Teriyaki chicken.
Holland doused his meal with black pepper, as usual; I took the pineapple pieces out of my coleslaw, & put it in the rice, with the sauce.

Supper was tasty.

Evening cocoa was comforting.

Life is good: enjoying the now, this Shabbat Eve 💕🕊️

HELLO AUGUST/Self-Care~2025; Ocean Park-WA

A new month.

New thoughts.

New hopes.

New possibilities.

New hurdles.

Holland asked me a question this morning - and my response was, "I'll be where Elohim wants me to be." The question was really generated in hopes that I would be in agreement with his wants. I'm not. I want out of WA State.

Yesterday, while drying to get dressed in the high humidity with my clothes fighting me every inch of the way over my damp skin, and my freshly washed and dried hair totally plastered to my head - looking in the end like it hadn't been washed at all, all I could think was: Well if, as Holland seems to think WA is the end game for our life together … then (1) Yeshua has to heal me so I can survive in WA's climate; I've been struggling to survive in WA's rainforest environment since 1965 - I'm growing weary of the struggle to stay alive in WA State (2) Elohim will have to change Holland's mind so he is open to a life beyond Kelso-WA; this will involve an honest {come to Jesus} moment with an honest salvation conversion - Holland will have to let go of self and embrace Elohim's Will (3) Holland gets a new wife; I'm ready to go Home - I've been ready since I was saved in 1965 … and WA State has been trying to kill me ever since my parents move us here in 1966, & very seriously since my first serious asthma attack in 1996. The way Holland is digging his heels in 🙄, I'm thinking #3 may be the pulled straw. And with his mind set on WA State … why are we even leaving in September to go to Brookings-OR???? The whole point of going to Brookings was to establish a rooted Life together. Together means Team Spirit.

But, [Team] to my husband means, he firmly decides … and I meekly follow.

That is not my understanding of Team. My understanding is that we, together (a team is made up of more than 1), plot a goal & plan a strategy where in agreement … we as a team, work towards what is best for US, as a whole.

I cannot breathe easy in WA State.

Holland cannot breath easy in any of the Southren States we have been in over the past 2 years.

Brookings-OR was the agreed upon "neutral" State. Or rather, it was, until we got back to WA and Kelso came into play, again 😟

I honestly am open to whatever Elohim has planned for my Life, & I am wise enough to understand that my wants and desires do not always mean I will get the results I pray for. Elohim knows best; and I will do what He has planned for me. I do not have to like it … but, I will eventually do it.

I just really pray that WA State does not figure into His Will 🙏 🤞

And I am honestly also aware that when my husband sets his mind on something he wants, he will try to coerce both me and Elohim to "come around" and do what he wants to do. Coercion always ends badly, but it's his way, and he has to learn lessons the hard way.

So, at this point, none of us is in agreement (not making assumptions concerning Elohim, but we aren't getting any green light signals, either) - our team is in disarray.

All that said …

Holland, no matter what we are facing or going through, is faithful to keep weekly [date outings]; sometimes I feel like participating, sometimes I don't - depending on the degree of heat during disagreements 😒: today I was participating 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨

I trust Elohim's Plan for my Life.

I love my husband.

Today is the beginning of Shabbat - the establishment of peace for the next 24 hours.

As we were pulling out of the Park, Holland pointed out 2 little foraging fawns at the end of the gravel drive. Before I could get my camera ready to capture the moment, Holland fired Betsy's ignition up and they shot in different directions - I managed to capture 1 of them in frame, twice:

2 little fawns split off in different directions … this little fawn's mama was waiting for it.

Holland paid space rent for August, then we were off to grab some eats in Long Beach … and drive to the Ilwaco Marina to sit and watch the water activity.

Then back home.

For more soul searching.

More agreeable married time.

More self care.

More spiritual reflection.

Today's agreed upon choice; 16 minutes from home.

Holland's 'Carnivore Burrito'; & my 'Beef Nachos' - you get your $$'s worth, here; I brought half of mine back home to east for Supper.

Elohim has a Plan for US 💖🕊️: I don't want to miss it fixating on the dysfunction team process 🤠🤦🏻‍♀️

SHABBAT APPRECIATIONS; Ocean Park-WA

The sun put in a brief appearance yesterday afternoon, blue sky; but, this morning, the thick gray clouds are back 😕

The Day stayed in the 50's all day long; but we stayed warm and cozy, in Independence; Ocean Park-WA
Holland planning our Fall Adventure Route; I appreciate everything my husband is doing for me, & for US ❤️

I stayed tuned into my fat loss goal …

Protein 'Meal' … halved with water, between 2 bottles - and veggies for my Ramen Noodle Supper.

And I spent several afternoon hours making a crochet "rope" to thread through the leather pouch I bought the other day: I will greatly appreciate this backpack adaptation on my next exploration/picture taking walk 😉

MOD pouch 'rope' to attach to buttons on my backpack straps; easy on, easy off.

Now, it's time to relax for the next 24 hours 😁🕊️
