PARPALA ROAD~Naselle-WA

May 9th: Today was my Gal Pal Bible Study Day in Rosburg.

Valley Bible Church, Rosburg-WA from Ocean Park-WA; 54 min (42.6 mi) via Sandridge Rd, US-101 N and WA-4 E

I was up and ready to go - early: I was excited to see everyone.

I had sufficient time to paint my fingernails to match the top I wore …

And Holland came with me; with my unstable asthma, and the beach warning alarm going off willy-nilly … neither one of us wanted to leave the other one alone for any length of time - we only have one vehicle now, and I didn't want to leave Holland behind in Ocean Park, with no way of escape if the tsunami warning siren went off again.

So, he came with me :-)

The Day started with a beautiful blue sky.

The ocean breeze was warming on the skin.

The music filling Betsy's cab was enjoyable.

Convo was light and playful.

Holland has uploaded some 1970's Music Playlists - and he included several songs I like.

Passing over the Willapa Bay Bridge … my eyes went to the road running alongside the beach-side of the Bay, and I said, "One of these days I'm going to turn off and follow that road to see exactly where it goes. I've never been on it before, and I'm curious. The way it runs along the waterway, I think it will come out in downtown Naselle."

Willapa Bay Bridge & road I want to explore someday.

Holland glanced at it, and said, "It probably dead ends." I quipped, "Well, there's only one way to find out - and one of these days, I'm going to find out; I used to do that kind of thing quite a bit when I was a solo lobo."

The drive to Rosburg went smoothly, and we arrived a little before schedule; that was okay.

Holland would have been welcome to join us inside the building, but he opted to stay in Betsy the entire time I was there - which was about 3 hours: Bible Study, then tune sandwich & no-bake cookies lunch with Becky & Ramona, afterwards ;-)

The girls went outside periodically to try to drag him in … but he remained outside researching things on my Tablet until I joined him for the drive back home.

This free baby Spider Plant came home with me ;-)

I asked him why he didn't come in, "Why didn't you come in? You were welcome to - the girls want to meet you." He said, "This is your time; you can talk about girl stuff - girls tend to go mute when guys are in the room." I laughed, and said, "You don't know my girls: we talk about anything and everything … even with our fellas standing next to us; we are not shy."

And it's true that that everyone I know wants to meet him. One of the women there, said, "I saw this red truck in the driveway, and when I asked whose it was - and who was sitting in it, everyone said, 'that's Val's truck; and Val's husband is sitting in it." She then added, "I said, 'Val got married? When???'" And we all started laughing, and I said, "I got married last January. Believe me, no one is more surprised that I am married, than I am." Which made everyone laugh harder, because I had been pretty adamant in 2022 that remarriage was not on my radar … but that was before Elohim placed Holland solidly in my life and  blipped my radar in the Fall of 2022, which led to a Reno Wedding in the New Year of 2023 - which led to life as road gypsies through the summer of 2023 to the present ;-)

Maybe he'll join us next time … if not for study, at least for lunch. We are all praying for a men's bible study to open up; Holland has asked about that, and the women there said there used to be one. Maybe the asking, and a willing new man in the mix will prompt them to start one up, again ;-)

On the way back to Ocean Park, Holland favored me, and drove through {downtown} Naselle, turning right onto Parpala Road - it did run from the Bay into Naselle; I kinda though it would, but didn't know for sure. Now I know, and I may take that side road occasionally, just for a change of scenery.

I finally explored this side road … it was a new adventure for both of us; Holland had never been on it, either :-)

It's a narrow 2-lane country road: just the kind of road I like to drive on warm, sunny days. We also saw a 'Honey for Sale' sign, so every now and then I may have a husband passenger.

Holland played Supertramp the whole way: I was feeling pretty spoiled … and liking the warm mood :-)

And of course, we made a stop in Long Beach to enjoy the warm, sunny, beach :-)
