MOD LID KNOB HOT HATS; Coalinga-CA

I like perked coffee, so when I spotted this campfire coffee pot in Ocean Park - I snapped it up.

The lid gets hot … it needed a Hotpad cover.

So, I spent today designing and crafting these little lid knob covers:

MOD Striped hot hat.

Holland said, "They look like little sombreros": and that is how I named them for this post 😉

My hot hat designs are a textured *1 st in front loop, 1 st in back loop* pattern, and uses simple sts.

Materials:

Scrap cotton yarns in colors of choice (I chose Fall colors); # G crochet hook, 1 rubber band, scissors & a Tapestry Needle.

Terms used:

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

sts = stitches

rpt - repeat

sl st = slip stitch

inc = increase

MC = main color

CC = contrast color

(1) Striped Pattern: With MC yarn & crochet hook, ch 2 - then make 6 sc in circle.

Row 2: 2 sc in each st: 12 sc

Row 3: *2 sc first st, 1 sc*: rpt around: 18 sc

Row 4: *1 sc in each if the next 2 sts, 2 sc  next st*: rpt around: 24 sc

Rows 5 thru 8: Sc even: 24 sc

Row 9: Double the rubber band & work a row of sc around the band - join with a sl st: 24 sts

Row 10: Attach CC, & ch 3 - work as follows: 1 dc in same st (inc), then *1 dc in next st, 2 dc next st* using the 1 st in front loop, 1 st in back loop textured pattern; rpt around: 38 sc

Front & Back views.

Row 11: Attach MC, & work textured pattern sc around: 38 sc

Row 12: Repeat row 10: 56 sc

Edge Trim - Row 13: Attach MC *Ch 3, skip 1 st, sl st in next st*; rpt around - join with a sl st in the last st. EO yarn & weave in loose ends.

Single crochet loop edging.
Striped finished.

(2) Simple Pattern - With Variegated yarn (or color of choice), work the striped pattern in a solid color throughout. Join last st of last row with a sl st.

Edge Trim: Continuing with variegated yarn, *ch 1, sl st in next st*; rpt around, ending with a sl st in first sl st. EO & weave in loose ends.

Simple Design.

It also fits a skillet lid knob.
