MOD ANGEL BABY BLANKETS~Crochet 15" Angel Baby Blanket Patterns

I made these little scraps of blankets months ago … but we are Road Gypsies, and I finally this morning (while we are hunkered down on the PNW peninsula), able to find the time to write these pattern directions out :-)

All four of them are using simple stitches, so they make up very quickly ;-)

#1) MOD OPENWORK & LITTLE BLOCKS~15" Angel Baby Blanket

Boy; Blue & Green.

This pattern is an original design that uses three basic crochet stitches; it is very simple, and very easy to make.

Materials: Baby Yarn - I used a solid color (MC) White = girl & Blue = boy, and a contrasting color (CC) Lullaby Variegated = girl & Green = boy; #G/6 aluminum crochet hook; scissors; tapestry needle.

Terms used:

ch = chain

sts = stitches

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

sl st = slip stitch

ea = each

rpt = repeat

T = turn

Row 1: Begin with MC, and make a ch of 75 sts; turn and make a sc in 2nd st from hook - sc in ea ch to end (73 sc): T

Row 2: Ch 3; dc in 2nd ch from hook, & *ch 1 - skip 1 ch -dc in next st*; rpt from * to * across row (36 ct. openwork): T

Row 3: Ch 3 & skip a st, then dc x4 - skip next st … then work as follows *dc next st - skip next st - dc x5 - skip next st*; rpt from * to * across row, ending row with dc x4 - skip next st - dc last st (12 ct blocks): T

Row 4: Rpt row 3.

MOD Openwork & Block pattern; crochet.

Repeat rows 2 through 4, working pattern as written - openwork posts on row 2 will not match posts of rows 3 & 4; it is designed that way.

Work  pattern for a length of 15", and top piece with a row of sc. EO

Sl st a decorative line across ea block center; weave in ends.

Edge with CC for colorful edging as follows: at lower left side - with front of work facing you, sc in ea st around blanket making 2 sts in all corners (280 sc - including corner sts; 76 sc = top/bottom (includes the corner sts) & 64 sc down ea side).

#2) MOD FORGET-ME-NOT ~15" Angel Baby Blanket

This pattern is an easy, simple single crochet & double crochet pattern; it works up very quickly.

Materials: Baby Yarn - I used a solid color (MC), and a Variegated color (CC), but you could use two solids, or just work with one color; #G/6 aluminum crochet hook; scissors; tapestry needle.

Terms used:

mc = main color

cc = contrast color

ch = chain

sts = stitches

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

ea = each

rpt = repeat

T = turn

EO = end off

Make a ch of 62 sts. Work a foundation row of sc across; ch 3 – T.

Row 1: (1 dc, ch 2, 1 sc) in 1st st, *skip 2 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 1 sc) in next st*; rpt from * to * across row – end 1 dc-ch 2-1 sc in last st.

Row 2 & following rows: Ch 2, (1 dc, ch 2, 1 sc) in ch 2 space of previous row, *(2 dc, ch 2, 1 sc) in ch 2 space of previous row*; rpt from * to * across row – end 1 dc-ch 2-1 sc in last st.

'Forget-Me-Not' pattern; crochet.

#3) MOD FANCY STRIPES~15" Angel Baby Blanket

'Fancy Stripes' ABB; 15-in. crochet.

This pattern is another easy, simple pattern, using staggered single crochet stitches for a nicely colored effect; it works up very quickly.

Materials: Baby Yarn in two colors - a Variegated Blue (MC), and Yellow (CC); #G/6 aluminum crochet hook; scissors; tapestry needle.

Terms used:

ch = chain

sts = stitches

sc = single crochet

ea = each

rpt = repeat

T = turn

Row 1: Begin with MC, and make a ch of 62 sts; Work a foundation row of sc across; ch 1 – T.

Rows 1 & 2: With blue, sc across row. DO NOT CUT YARN - carry it up the side as you work the pattern rows.

Row 3: Attach yellow, and work across row as follows; *2 sc, 1 long sc made in the corresponding st of the previous row below*.

Row 4: With yellow, sc across row. DO NOT CUT YARN - carry it up the side as you work the pattern rows.

Rows 5 & 6: Picking up blue again, sc across row.

Row 7: Picking up yellow again, work across row as follows; 1 sc, *1 long sc made in the corresponding st of the previous row below, 1 sc in EA of the two end sts*.

Row 8: With yellow, sc across row.

Continue in set pattern for a length of 15". EO.

Edge with CC as follows: at lower left side - with front of work facing you, sc in ea st around blanket making 2 sts in all corners.

#4) MOD RIDGE STITCH~15" Angel Baby Blanket

This pattern is an easy, simple single crochet pattern throughout; it works up very quickly.

Materials: Baby Yarn - I used three solid colors: Mint Green, White & Baby Blue, (but you could use a single color … or two solids); #G/6 aluminum crochet hook; scissors; tapestry needle.

Terms used:

ch = chain

sts = stitches

sc = single crochet

sl st = slip stitch

ea = each

rpt = repeat

T = turn

Row 1: Begin with MC, and make a ch of 62 sts; Work a foundation row of sc across; ch 1 – T.

Row 2: *Work 1 sc, inserting hook into back loop at the head of EA st of previous row* across row; ch-T

Sc in back loop of previous row …

If using different colors = work 2 rows same color.

DO NOT CUT YARNS = carry each thread up backside of work.

Work carried yarn into pattern ON BACKSIDE of work.

Continue in set pattern for a length of 15". EO.

Edge with CC as follows: at lower left side - with front of work facing you, sc in ea st around blanket making 2 sts in all corners.

Sc around entire ABB.
