LET THE GOOD THINGS FIND YOU~Self-Care 2026; Castle Rock-WA

A miracle happened at our home, this afternoon: Holland wasn't feeling up to scratch .. and while making his morning coffee, he startled me by asking, "Why don't you play some of that music you were playing the other Day?" I looked up, and said, "The messianic music - Joel's music? You don't like that." He said, "I do want to hear it, today; that Jewish music."

WOW.

A true miracle.

A real blessing.

While Joel's tunes were ricocheting off Independence's walls, I scrolled through my newsfeeds … and was saddened to read about Bob Mackie's passing -  Bob Mackie was a high couture fashion designer, who dressed beautiful women in beautiful gowns: his designs were artful works of beauty & I loved them: I could never afford them, but I loved them. R.I.P. Bob.

I laughed out loud when a newsfeed thread highlighted "Trumps craziness" by reporting his latest jab at the demon rats primed to usurp American lifestyle, American Constitution, & American Law: as long as he is President, he is not going to allow America - or Americans - to be undermined, shamefully taken advantage of by our haters, or usurped. So far, we've been winning on every level, from every angle … and it's driving our enemies to froth at the mouth; with unhinged Trump Derangement syndrome.

Trump shares map showing Canada, Greenland, Mexico and Iceland under US rule - he loves driving the looney's crazy with his jabs.

What President Trump is underscoring could very well be a very real possibility; and the losers have only themselves to blame for continuing to poke the bear.

FAFO is not a threat, or a game, with the current man in the Oval Office. It's a reality.

He is not going to allow America - or Americans - to be undermined, shamefully taken advantage of by our haters, or usurped.

He also likes gaudy dΓ©cor, which is also setting the demonrat's hair on fire … but, I think it's appropriate: the President hosts actual Royal persons that are used to flamboyant & gaudy - and say what you will about the man the obamanites hate: he's got the Midas Touch. Gaudy, or not.

The people that bitch the most, as the most jealous - and he is unfazed by their pettiness. MPO

The man says what he intends to do; and gets it done: that's a blessing to America & the majority of American Citizens. And he doesn't particularly care if people like it - or him. I like that. Maybe because I have the same shrugging personality when it comes to people's pettiness: I may be thrown to the wolves, but I will also come back leading the pack to stand my ground. I may not have the Midas Touch, but I do have the FAFO bite when push comes to shove.

He likes … and HAS - the Midas Touch.

Then, I picked up a Cussler Read for this week, and buried my nose in that storyline for a while - while Holland drank coffee and shook the morning cobwebs from his sleepy brain:

Cussler-Fargo adventure with Tibetan mysteries & skeletal dangers.

{{Bon is the indigenous Tibetan religion, predating Buddhism, with unique rituals, deities, and a rich spiritual heritage.

Origins and History: Bon, also known as Yungdrung Bon or "eternal Bon," is considered the original religion of Tibet, with roots tracing back to the ancient kingdom of Zhangzhung near Mount Kailash in the Himalayas. Its legendary founder is Shenrab Miwo, regarded by followers as the "Bon Buddha," though historical evidence for his existence is uncertain. Bon predates the introduction of Buddhism to Tibet in the 7th century and has influenced many aspects of Tibetan culture, including rituals, art, and architecture.

Beliefs and Practices: Bon is shamanistic and animistic, emphasizing the worship of natural elements such as mountains, rivers, the sun, moon, and various spirits. Its practices include rituals, exorcisms, talismans, prayers, drumming, and offerings, often aimed at protecting individuals and communities from evil forces. Bonpos, the followers of Bon, also venerate ancestors and deities, integrating these beliefs into daily life and household practices. Traditional Bon rituals include fortune-telling, soul retrieval, and ransom ceremonies, some of which predate Buddhist influence.

Relationship with Tibetan Buddhism: While Bon shares similarities with Tibetan Buddhism, it retains distinct pre-Buddhist elements. Over centuries, Bon absorbed some Buddhist teachings, leading to syncretic forms such as New Bon (Bon Sar), which incorporates Buddhist figures like Padmasambhava. Historically, Bon faced persecution, particularly in the 8th century under King Khrisong Detsen, but it survived and continues to be practiced, especially in eastern and northern Tibet.

Modern Presence: Today, Bon is recognized as a legitimate religious tradition alongside Tibetan Buddhism. There are around 264 active Bon monasteries and convents in Tibet, with additional centers in Nepal and India, including the Menri Monastery in Himachal Pradesh. Estimates suggest there are approximately 400,000 Bon followers in the Tibetan plateau. Bon continues to influence Tibetan culture, from prayer flags and sand mandalas to festival dances and spiritual rituals.

Modern Status: Recognized religion with active monasteries and followers in Tibet, Nepal, and India

Bon remains a living spiritual tradition, preserving Tibet’s ancient religious heritage while coexisting with Buddhism and continuing to shape Tibetan identity and culture.

What Was a Vacuum Ship?

A vacuum ship—more formally called a vacuum airship or vacuum balloon—was a hypothetical aircraft that would generate lift by evacuating the space inside its envelope rather than filling it with a lighter‑than‑air gas like hydrogen or helium.

How It Was Conceptualized: The idea was that if a vessel could be made strong enough to withstand the huge pressure difference between the outside atmosphere and the vacuum inside, the displaced air would provide maximum possible lift per unit volume. This was first proposed in 1670 by Italian Jesuit priest Francesco Lana de Terzi, who called it the Flanar (from his name and the Portuguese flanar, “wandering”).

Historical Developments: 1886–1900: Engineer Arthur De Bausset tried to build a “vacuum‑tube” airship, but faced skepticism and failed to secure funding.

1921: Lavanda Armstrong suggested a double‑wall design with a vacuum chamber inside and a pressurized air layer between two shells, using a honeycomb‑like structure.

1980s–2000s: Researchers like David Noel and Emmanuel Bliamptis explored variations with geodesic spheres, inflatable struts, and advanced materials such as beryllium, boron carbide, and diamond‑like carbon.

Modern research: NASA’s Project 868 examined vacuum airships for Mars missions, noting that the thin Martian atmosphere could make the concept viable there, but not on Earth due to material strength limits.

Why It Was Problematic: The main obstacle was structural integrity: no known material could be both light enough to provide lift and strong enough to resist the atmospheric pressure (about 101 kPa on Earth) without collapsing. Even with double‑shell designs, the air between the shells had to be pressurized to prevent collapse, which reduced the net lift.

In Summary: A “vacuum ship” was never a real, operational aircraft—it was a theoretical concept that explored the limits of lift by removing all gas from the interior. While it inspired many engineering ideas, material science limits and physics constraints kept it from practical use, though it remains of interest in niche research, such as Mars exploration

Around noon, Holland wanted to go collect the mail; so, off we went. As we were leaving the Resort grounds, I noticed leaves are starting to fall … I don't think we've ever been here this time of year - usually we're long down the highway by now - usually in AZ, or CA

Leaves are starting to fall; Toutle River RV Park, Castle Rock-WA

Mail collected, and back home again, Holland called my attention to one of his YouTube channels he follows, and pointed out our RV in the background of the guy's video:

That's Independence directly behind the fella's head … we were in AZ

I visited FB Friends' Pages; and light-heartedly engaged in a couple FB Quizzes (I don't take them seriously, but they do make me laugh); I received a loving PM; and I snagged a Heather Stillufsen drawing that fits Today …

I don't care if Holland thinks I'm a "devil woman" πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ - FB keeps telling me I'm an Angel πŸ˜‰ And THAT is what I'm going with πŸ‘

WE'RE NOT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE; Ocean Park-WA

Today dawned foggy - dirty foggy: and stayed that way all day, so, we stayed home.

The day remained foggy; we stayed home today.

We're not like everybody else.

We have to protect our lungs; from grit on the breeze, & from moisture on the breeze that could possibly lead to an ER visit for Holland. The air here has been nearly as bad as it was in Arizona … and Holland has been using his nebulizer machine every day. We've been married 30 months, this month, and I've never seen him use it until recently.

I don't know whether to be glad the macho-man side of him is sliding - or if I should be scared that the COPD appears to be getting more aggressive. I think I'm probably a little of both.

I've had to use my asthma inhaler more than usual, too - which leads to mid-day naps, and all-night-hoot-owl episodes. Between the both of us, we have been burning the midnight oil, and falling into bed in the very early wee hours of the dawning morning: daytime activities haven't been happening until sometime around noon for Holland; sometime around 10 AM, for me.

Adjustments to social activities have had to be made.

Plans to look at the beach artwork and get a few pictures of the sand sculptures this afternoon, fell through: pictures are not worth a trip to ER.

I'll have to wait some more before trying out my new camera pouch πŸ˜•

The Bible Studies I had hoped to get to with a reliable frequency, have been put aside. The meeting is a hour away on good days, and a bit further when the winds are up and fog is thick. The sketchy ocean atmosphere has had the warning siren going off more than we've ever heard it - and that keeps us a little closer to home, and to each other; neither of us wants to be an hour, or two hours away from each other if the precautionary warning suddenly morphs into a reality situation.

Visiting with friends (his, mine, ours) has been pretty lax this year; our energies have been pretty drained just trying to stay alive - visiting anyone, for any real length of time has been very spotty. Struggling to breathe makes one lethargic, and attention span lags.

We're not like everybody else.

Some people understand; some people don't … and we can't help that.

THE KINKS - 'I'm Not Like Everybody Else':

Our Life is what it is - our social life is pretty much determined by how Mother Nature treats our lungs, and currently she hasn't been too friendly. And it's not just here in WA State, where she's kicking up a fuss 😡‍πŸ’«: she's going on a rampage, nationwide 😳

Holland has been checking weather reports everywhere, trying to find us a safe harbor when we leave here in September. Brookings-OR, is still on the docket, but afterwards is anyone's guess. He feels bad that he can't promise me anything in regards to exciting and adventurous explorations - and I assure him that everything is fine; he's doing what he can, and all we can do is just go with the flow, and ride this time of uncertainty out, knowing that Elohim has everything under control.

Holland has done righteous by me, always looking for ways to make my Road Gypsy Dream come true.

Elohim has done righteous by me in all ways, at all times: even when I don't understand. He had never let me down. I can blindly trust him - and I do.

Yeshua does righteous by me, every Day. Regardless of the tempestuous weather … He still breathes life into my body so I can enjoy Life with my new husband.

I am truly blessed.

I am daily thankful.

And I am eternally grateful.

We enjoyed our mugs of warming, eye-opening joy juice that allows us to function at adulting.

Holland spent some time outside fiddling with stuff that needs to be taken care of before time runs out to take care of it. Thankfully, he wasn't out there all day long.

I really wasn't that upset to have missed today's big event - it is Shabbat, after all - a Day of Rest = the ultimate Health Day. Shabbat is a reminder that there is an alternative to being upset: there is a world of peace that comes at least once a week if we lend ourselves to it.

I enjoyed working my body πŸ‹️‍♀️ keeping "the temple" operating smoothly & efficiently, is important. Yeshua, Himself, walked all over the place on Shabbat - gritty fog may keep me from outdoor exercise, but it needn't keep me from indoor exercise; I puttered around in the kitchen preparing a meal that was more than a protein drink & ramen noodles 😊; and I even had time to fiddle around with a yarn project ✂️

And when my tired hands couldn't summon up enough strength to move the lid even a tiny bit off the honey jar … I was thankful there was a big, brawny man πŸ’ͺπŸ˜ŠπŸ‘Œ in the house.

My hands were worn out from weights & busy work … I needed my man's strength; & took the ribbing πŸ˜‰
My man is a good man; and some day, he'll realize what I know 😘

Despite the rough beginning of this marriage, we are truly thankful Elohim put us together ❤️ All things considered, I have a good husband. And Holland knows he has a good wife.

We know we're not like everybody else, and we know we have a good Life.

THANKSGIVING 2024 - SLOW COOKER TURKEY BREAST RECIPE; Quartzsite-AZ

Thanksgiving is celebrated on a different date every year because it is always the 4th Thursday of November: a good day filled with delicious kitchen scents hovering in the background.

Every couple of Thanksgivings, I like to try a new turkey recipe … this year the following recipe sounded interesting, and it's a spice combination I've not ever considered. However, the past 24 months have been something new, too: new husband, new experiences, new life. This recipe seems to fit all that "newness" ;-)

Spicy rub ingredients.
Gravy ingredients.
butter-spice rub & rosemary sprigs go under loosened skin.
Into the pot  around 10:30 AM, & set to High to cook for 4 hours.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast: (https://www.bowlofdelicious.com/slow-cooker-turkey-breast/)

When Holland saw the buttery rub, he thought I was going to smear a mustard concoction on the turkey breast; I laughed, and told him the yellow is turmeric.

I also fleshed the turkey out with a cooked yam (split for 2), mashed potatoes (2 med. spuds), stuffing, gravy (1 cup), & a small store-bought pumpkin pie - our little feast was perfect for a couple. Holland was happy there was no dietary restrictions, today (no pictures though, because hunger overrode picture snapping).

Dinner fare to be cooked in a staggered manner.

The turkey was tasty, tender, and just right for two people: 2 slices a piece, and 2 slices to refrigerate for later.

After Supper dishes were done, we went for a short drive before sunset.

I usually start getting my December Holiday stuff in place as soon as the Thanksgiving stuff is cleared away … but this year we will be moving December 3rd, so, I'll wait until we are parked in Fortuna-AZ to pull the bin out; and start putting stuff in place.

GREEN GRASS & HIGH TIDES; Long Beach-WA

September 14th: We enjoy our grassy space at Ocean Bay Mobile & RV Park (it's peaceful), and the Park hosts are very nice people, and friendly too … but we miss being parked next door to David on his beach lot :-(

We are still having drainage issues in the spare bathroom, so we need to be connected to this RV Park's drain system until that gets sorted out.

I was feeling pretty punky this morning, so I got up early so I wouldn't wake Holland with my tossing and turning: he doesn't sleep well, and was up until about 3 AM before he fell into bed.

I worked a while on another little preemie sleep sacque while listening to the continual rainfall, and drinking a couple cups of coffee I hoped would ease my sore throat.

Drizzle this morning, before Holland woke up …
Worked a bit on this boy's preemie sacque button band.

When Holland got up around 10 … I crept back to bed; leaving my crafting stuff all over the table. I couldn't have tidied up if I wanted to - I was that tired. The PNW rainy season puts me into a semi-hibernation mode. My stuffy head, sore throat, and sour stomach added to the drowsiness.

I had short bursts of wakefulness & tepid energy. I sleep off and on most of the day.

We had planned to go to the Garlic Festival - then on to Ilwaco to the Saturday Market, but that fell by the wayside because I was just too ditzy to do much of anything but sleep. Holland didn't mind - he's more of a homebody, than I am.

Holland had made a tuna salad while I was drifting in and out of Dreamland … and I wasn't sure my stomach would keep it down: but after I forced the first bite past my nose and down my throat, the following bites weren't so hard; and my stomach did not rebel. Punky or not, I need to keep my body nourished.

Today, last year, I was eating my first tuna steak … and canning fresh tuna to carry with us on our Road Gypsy adventures: SO delish! Though I have lived in the PNW since 1966, I'd never been treated to this PNW delicacy - Holland has, so he was excited when we canned 24 pints of tuna with David. We still have about 10 pints left, so we'll skip canning this year; but it will be a definite {thing} going forward. I'm hooked on the tasty treat, now.

********************

September 15th: This morning I woke up feeling much better: the headache was gone, and my stomach was calmer.

I also liked the way Holland sleepily reached out with his long arm, and pulled me into his side, for a sleepy morning cuddle before I woke all the way up, and got up.

Holland followed a short while later - he wanted to check out the Garlic Festival (and hopefully grab some fresh garlic), and I was game … so, off we went. I had planned on doing this activity before Holland was part of my life, but doing it with him makes it more fun :-)

I'm back in the Land of the Living, today.
The Garlic Festival is a small affair … and pretty much like the Farmer's Market a few days ago: a lot of food stuffs, jewelry, and beach combing "art".
Festival Mascots …

We had to look hard to find any fresh garlic: we came home with 2 heads of garlic, and a handful of very small tomatoes because both were 'organically' ridiculously high priced … and a small box of spendy white fudge. I don't regret wasting the time, but I won't be going again.

The Outlaws - 'Green Grass and High Tides' song:  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhiyKZsAW44)

On our way home, we turned down Bay Avenue in Ocean Park, to enjoy the Pacific Ocean at the Ocean Park Approach: Holland needs his daily water fix - and I'm finding that I look forward to enjoying it with him.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed spending time watching ocean waves, as I have - and do - enjoy a day at the beach with Holland. I love watching his senses come alive when he watches the waves :-)

I liked the kites … we had missed the Long Beach Kite Festival, due to Independence's repairs, so I was glad to see some of what had been shown. These pretty things are wildly expensive.

Fun beach approach; Ocean Park-WA
The 'sea chickens' were plentiful again, this afternoon; flocks of 'Heermann's Gulls'.
A black one! I wonder what it's labeled as … it's a 'first winter Heermann's Gull'.

Large, loud, waves rolling in ;-)
A closer picture of the colorful kites.
A dinosaur, & an Orca is what drew my eye.
I don't know what the racoon-tailed black kite is supposed to represent …
Maybe some sort of fantasy stingray?
A h.u.g.e. Blue Whale had joined the kite dance on the breeze! The fells had it tethered to his truck's back bumper.
I am loving this stage & chapter of my New Life that my new husband is engaging me in ;-)
We spotted 5 Brown Pelicans - but I couldn't capture them in frame.
Brown Pelicans – Feeding Behaviors and Identification
(https://www.onthewingphotography.com/wings/2011/02/19/brown-pelicans/)
I finally {got} one ;-)

When I first saw today's brown pelicans, I thought they were eagles because from a distance the large brown bodies with white heads appeared to resemble eagles - but Holland said they were brown pelicans; and that excited me, more: I love the way pelicans in flight look like prehistoric pterosaurs (I admit to being a dino freak ;-)).

The first time I saw brown pelicans was in 2020, when I was enjoying one of my solo lobo Sunday out-of-house Daytrips. I was deliberately pushing myself out of my comfort zone, and forcing myself to deal with memories without breaking down in tears … and to create new memories by doing things Bob and I never did; it was important in my healing process of widowhood:

SUNDAY~FUNDAY #18 – Fort Columbia:
https://jeastofeden.blogspot.com/2020/08/sundayfunday-18-fort-columbia.html

Since 2020, I've enjoyed several pelican sightings: brown, and white - we saw white pelicans on our way to Warrenton-OR, the other day, but there was no place to pull over and take pictures.

The weather started turning - so, we turned towards home under the dancing kites adding color to the darkening sky.

We stopped at Okie's Grocery Store on the way home and bought some fresh produce … and some interesting black grapes; I said to Holland that the way they hung down reminded me of little trumpet-shaped flowers ;-)

Royal Queen Purple Iochroma flower cluster.

When we got home, Holland put the kitchen cart I bought a few days ago, together, for me.

And we enjoyed some of the black grapes, too. They were sweet and tasty - not tart, like the little round old-fashioned black grapes I am used to, that used to grow up the porch pillars of my cousin Terri's Skamokawa house: I like those the best … but these long, tubular grapes, are enjoyable, too :-)

Holland put my kitchen cart together after we got back home …
A tidy place to add extra space in the small kitchen ;-)
A new kind of grape - neither of us have ever seen, or tried them; but they look interesting.
They have a little 'navel'; LOL
The largest one was 2-in long.
Black seedless grapes contain significant amounts of vitamins A, C, and K. Flavonoids within the grape’s skin, such as resveratrol, also provide antioxidant qualities which can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Today was a great day from start to finish.

Thank You, Yeshua: I am truly blessed.
