The California leader has been skewered for a misleading post about ICE raids

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is under fire for posting a shocking response to ICE raids, likening the workers at the targeted cannabis farms to 'kids' whose mothers have been taken from them. 

At multiple locations across southern California's Ventura County, just north of Los Angeles, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out raids on cannabis farms leading to a violent response from locals and farmworkers.

Videos of the operations at Glass House Farms show armored federal agents standing on farm roads and flanked by rows of what appear to be cannabis, or marijuana plants, while masked agitators hurled slurs and debris at law enforcement.

When the stand-off became too volatile, the National Guard and ICE agents popped tear gas which sent the crowds running in a frenzy.

One man even opened up fired upon the federal agents.  

But Democrats including Newsom and Rep. Jimmy Gomez immediately shared sympathy for the targets on social media.

'Trump calls me “Newscum” — but he’s the real scum,' the two-term governor added.

The governor was widely criticized for his comment.

'Democrats are having a fit because we're enforcing our laws against people working at a weed farm,' Vice President JD Vance wrote. 

'Why are you allowing small children to work in a drug farm?' commentator and LA native Peachy Keenan responded to Newsom. 

'Not too late to delete this,' political strategist and '10 Minute Drill' host Matt Whitlock wrote.

In a statement to the Daily Mail DHS confirmed eight children were rescued as a result of the raid.  

'At the California marijuana facility, ICE and CBP law enforcement rescued 8 unaccompanied migrant children from what looks like exploitation, violation of child labor laws and potentially human trafficking or smuggling,' a DHS spokesman said.

'Yet, Gavin Newsom, Ruben Gallego and other politicians continue to demonize and attack the law enforcement officers who bravely rescued these children.”

Stunningly, Newsom was not the only Democrat to provide political cover for the violence that broke out at the ICE raid. 

Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., wrongly claimed the facility was not for cannabis production. 'Instead of prioritizing dangerous criminals Trump is targeting families that have been here for years picking our food,' he wrote, reposting the same video as Newsom and Gomez.

'The public outcry and protests are occurring because the American public knows this is wrong.'

Similarly, California Democratic Rep. Jimmy Gomez bizarrely - and wrongly - insinuated that the cannabis operation was actually a berry farm. 

'How many MS-13 gang members are waking up at 3 a.m. to pick strawberries? O’yeah, zero!' the Democrat oddly claimed.  

'Trump said he’d go after “bad hombres,” but he’s targeting the immigrant farm workers who feed America. Either he lied — or he can’t tell the difference.'

Gomez was apparently unable to discern the difference between a drug and berry farm.

'Just actively dishonest to keep pushing this narrative when it’s been widely reported since this afternoon that this is a criminal warrant being served at a cannabis farm - not “farm workers who feed America,"' Fox News' Bill Melugin said, calling out Gomez for lying.  

'There is no food being grown here. No strawberries either.'

The offices for Senator Gallego and Rep. Gomez did not respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment. 

'Glass House Farms were visited today by ICE Officials,' the company wrote in a statement on X.

'The company fully complied with agent search warrants and will provide further updates if necessary.'

Its unclear how many arrests were made, but DHS released a statement indicating it was carrying out operations on individuals with criminal warrants.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have lambasted President Trump for the financial cost of sending troops to quell anti-ICE riots in their jurisdiction, which came with a price tag dramatically less than the bill taxpayers foot to pay for illegal immigrants in the state.

"Just an absolutely shameful use of taxpayer dollars that could be used to actually HELP people," Bass recently posted on X. "Despicable."

"$134 million that should be going to LA’s fire recovery," Newsom posted on X. "Shameful."

Many on social media responded to the posts from Newsom and Bass and commented on how illegal immigrants cost taxpayers billions of dollars in California, including White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller. 

"Wait till you find out how many trillions we have to spend on illegal aliens," Miller posted on X in response to Newsom. 

"Now do the $9 billion you drained out of our state treasury to fund your free healthcare for illegals immigrants scheme," campaign strategist Andrew Clark posted on X.

"How many billions have you spent on illegals Gavin? It’s well into the hundreds of billions," Conservative activist and filmmaker Robby Starbuck posted on X. "THAT money should have gone to your citizens and fire recovery but you gave it to illegals.

Recent studies reviewed by Fox News Digital show that California spends at least tens of billions on illegal immigrants each year, far more than the $134 million cost of sending in federal troops to respond to rioting.

A Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) cost analysis, promoted by the House Budget Committee in a 2023 press release, found that "benefits and services provided to illegal aliens in California alone in 2022" amounted to more than $22 billion. 

In a more recent cost analysis, FAIR calculated that services for illegal immigrants cost California taxpayers $31 billion per year. 

A 2019 study from FAIR found that incarceration costs of illegal immigrants going through the court process and being housed in jail cost California over $2 billion per year. 

Earlier this year, Newsom asked for an additional $2.8 billion loan to address a bloated deficit in the state's Medicaid program, which has surpassed budget expectations largely due to coverage for illegal immigrants.

Last year, California expanded Medi-Cal to cover all low-income adults ages 26 through 49, regardless of immigration status, making it the first state to do so. Roughly 1.6 million illegal immigrants are enrolled in the state's healthcare program, according to state data, and 15 million California residents are enrolled.

In addition to the amount of taxpayer dollars spent on individuals illegally in the country, a recent study by Wallethub found that California ranks nearly last in the country when it comes to return on investment for taxpayers. 

Wallethub examined state and local tax collections and then compared that with the quality of services received in education, health, safety, the economy, and infrastructure and pollution. The Golden State ranks 47th in taxpayer efficiency in the United States. 

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin fired back at California Democrats and pointed to the cost the rioters could inflict, already estimated in the millions as of Thursday, on the taxpayers in terms of property damage if not quickly quelled by federal troops.

"Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass are conveniently ignoring the high price of mass looting, rioters destroying LA’s family businesses, public property, and setting cars and other property on fire," McLaughlin said.

"President Trump will not stand by while these lawless rioters loot and destroy a great American city. Newsom and Bass should be thanking President Trump for providing additional support to restore law and order and stop the destruction of LA."

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Newsom Communications Director Izzy Gardon said there is an "irrefutable return on investment when Californians have access to education and healthcare."

"There’s zero return for taxpayers when Trump blows $140 million of YOUR dollars to pull troops off the border and away from wildfire prep just so they can sit idle in L.A. while he cosplays as a dictator and chases Fox News headlines. This isn’t public safety — it’s a political stunt and a disgrace."

Bass's office directed Fox News Digital to a comment the mayor made on MSNBC.

"We are a city of immigrants," Bass said. "We have entire industries that wouldn't even be able to function without immigrant labor. So this is terrible to families, but it also is a very powerful blow to the local economy if this is going to continue."

Late Thursday, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order Thursday directing President Donald Trump to return control of the National Guard to California.

The order, which takes effect at noon Friday, said the deployment of the Guard was illegal and both violated the Tenth Amendment and exceeded Trump’s statutory authority.

The Trump administration appealed that decision and hours later the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily blocked the federal judge’s order.

The mountains were couched in a misty cloud layer, due to all that rainfall last night, and warming sunshine this afternoon.

It looks like a massive & extensive dust storm - but it's moisture evaporating from the desert floor.

Don't know what this is - but it looks like a refinery plant of some sort, with that black smokestack … but couldn't run anything down on it. Hmmm

Parker-AZ on the horizon; this is a very busy highway.

We had lunch before shopping; while we were eating, these pretty little - and very noisy - birds entertained us. I went online, and tried to find out what they were, but nothing at all resembling them came up :-(

Then we talked about the truck camper we're considering, to purchase … and saw something similar across the way:

These are vey noisy birds; glittery green back, honey gold front - yellow eyes, green legs, & a green beak.

The type of truck camper we will be shopping for in the near future.

Shopping went well this afternoon … there were no crazy shoppers ready to pick a fight with me over peppers; and Bleu behaved himself, too. Everyone loves him, and he basks in the 'star' shine ;-)

Road crews were busy along the route, all day long - thankfully traffic wasn't held up too long, either way.

I spotted another pretty heart-shaped cloud in the sky: I love seeing them - to me, they are heavenly messages letting me know that Elohim has His eye on us, and is guiding us along; preparing the way before us, and leading us safely to where He wants us to be. When I see a heart cloud, or a heart rock, I literally feel His love all around me :-)

Road work the entire length of Hwy. #95, to the Parker-AZ Junction; both side shoulders have been graded, and pea gravel was being laid down.

I love the way Elohim shows  me his love for me … heart-shaped clouds. Hearts were everywhere this month.

Holland and I  both indulged a little at the grocery store: I spent big on eggs, and Holland will enjoy a big mug of spendy coffee tomorrow morning ;-)

$8 for 18 eggs; worth it not to be poisoned with chemicals.
