Holland wanted a guard dog - I didn't want a dog at all; been there, done that. I didn't want to be tied down with another dog. I wanted to be free to get up and go whenever I felt like it.

Holland insisted - we compromised.

Holland wanted a full-grown rescue dog - I nixed that idea; I didn't want to deal with someone else's headache, or canine abandonment issues.

Holland kept insisting we {need} a guard dog - we compromised: he finally agreed we could get a puppy ;-)

One puppy became two puppies :-)

Teaching Bleu & Sonny to come to each of our calls - Holland verbal; me, a whistle.

Furry explorers … Fishing Season 2023 just opened up.

Sometimes they grate in Holland's nerves (the high pitched puppy barking & night-time whining) … and I remind him how much he insisted we "need a guard dog." When I remind him, he looks at the frisky, barking, bundles of lovable fur - and I say, "These fur-babies will grow up to be exactly what you wanted; they will learn to be quieter. They will guard us faithfully because they will know they were raised with love. Puppies grow up to be full-size dogs - you will have your 'guard dog' before this year's end."

By this time next year, Holland will appreciate the compromise ;-)

The boys are learning to get along with each other.

Compromise is a GOOD THING :-)

DOUBLE TROUBLE

June 15th: A few weeks ago Bleu was feeling alone … and contrite when we saw him in his newspaper-confetti-filled-kennel; we felt he might feel a little less impish if he had a companion to burn of the P & V with, so we put feelers out.

This morning, we found a candidate :-)

Newest addition to the Family.

His markings are pretty close to Bleu's - and that's what we want; so, Holland called the breeder and made arrangements.

This afternoon, we drove to Camas to bring Sonny home ❤️: he's just as handsome as our first furry son 😁.

And he don't take no dominance crap from Bleu either (he had litter mates he fought with, he doesn't back down) 😉

Sonny was not house broken … he was a little savage, running the farm fields; we quickly started team working - and potty training. Hopefully, he will be house-broken soon.

We bought a 2nd kennel, and placed it in backseat area; next to Bleu's kennel.

Camas has grown - this used to be a 2 lane road, not too long ago.

I got may country drive in, too. LOL

Sonny is 2 weeks younger than Bleu - and a lot bigger, too.

Blessed sleep; peace at last.

Sonny is not a pure bred Blue Heeler, like Blue: Sonny is a {Texas Heeler}; half Australian Shepherd & half Blue Heeler.

He is two weeks younger than Bleu, but he will outsize Bleu in short order; and they will be good for each other once the pecking order is established.

BLEU'S MORNING OUTING~Jones Beach-OR

June 11th: This morning I was up bright and early to take Bleu to Jones Beach; we had been there before, but not alone. This morning we would be leaving Holland home, and striking out on our own.

The goal was for me to get comfortable driving The Beast …  and for Bleu to get comfortable off-leash. The road to the river beachfront would be pretty free of traffic in the early morning hours; and the beach would be pretty free of people traffic, too.

Bleu is growing, and expressing his need for more freedoms - he needs to learn off-leash behavior: dog in training exercises.
