It's Friday, my Island of Rest - and right on cue, Holland started in on me :-(

The augment this morning was about Sturgis; I was unpacking a wardrobe box, when I pulled out his leather jacket … he immediately went into a spiel about how he got it from a guy, "a christian guy" who was at Sturgis". Now, he knows these are fighting words (to mix christianity with the worldly bullshit that goes on at Sturgis gatherings); but he kept flapping his yap, treating me like I'm a stupid woman who doesn't understand anything at all about Sturgis. His words snapped at me before he left this morning was, "It's not what you think: people go there to buy or trade motorcycles - there is no nudity, there."

Surely he jests … and I was not born yesterday.

I was sensing a LOT of bill clinton attitude in his remark.

Sturgis is a hedonistic gathering, under the guise of "motorcycle dealership": while it is true that it is a motorcycle gathering … with that comes the wild drinking, prostitution, and drug dealing, that comes with motorcycle gangs that gather there to share their motorcycle "knowledge", their gang activity, their women - and to drink themselves stupid while making drug deals. THAT IS what Sturgis is ALL ABOUT.

And Holland's uncles and cousins never took their wives with them on their week long Sturgis orgies: there is a reason for that. Men wanting to act like bachelor's at a week-long-kegger and drug infused orgy, do not want wives tagging along.

He treats me like I am a stupid Christian woman, who has been sheltered all my life, and don't know what I am talking about when I say:  "Christians and Sturgis do NOT mix - and Christians have no business going there: they can buy a motorcycle at reputable local motorcycle shops, IF that is their claim to being at Sturgis - which, I am sure is NOT the real reason they are there, at Sturgis. Witnessing for Christ? Are you serious? WHAT kind of witness do you suppose is shown when a married man claiming to be a christian drinks himself stupid and begins acting like a fool with naked 20-year old's (thinking Elohim is blind, when he's away from home), while his 40-year old wife sits at home with his children - possibly a daughter the same age as the one he's got his arm draped around at Sturgis? I can guarantee that the only witness he is showing is not one of righteous behavior; and no one is fooled - not even himself. He bites his wife's head off, back at home, because he is consumed with guilt for what he has done. And you are biting my head off now, because you know what I'm saying is truth."

There is not a man alive that can withstand looking at boobs and booty when it's smack dab in the face; is he seriously trying to convince me that nudity was not present - and that the Redmill men, who consistently step out of line when it comes to the call of the flesh … "did not see, or look"???

The phrase "lust of the eyes" appears in the New Testament in 1 John 2:15-17, which reads … Yeshua said: "[15] Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for Elohim is not in them. [16] For everything in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - comes not from the Father but from the world. [17] The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of Elohim lives forever."

I have mentioned many times before over the years on my Blogs, on my FB Page, and to Holland, that my first husband and I had a biker friend that lived with us for 2 years. Dave had been in a serious motorcycle wreck in Idaho, where he had surgery to place a steel plate over the top of his skull, and surgery to repair his left tibia area so gangrene didn't set in: he needed someplace to heal, so we welcomed him into our home. He had ridden with the Hell's Angels, the Gypsy Jokers, ect.; he had spent summers at Sturgis gatherings (and Holland and his family members probably at some point, crossed paths with Dave). Dave had spent time in prisons, and had the tat's to prove it. While he lived with us, he became a fast friend; respecting our Faith, and our home environment. He became a lifelong friend to us, and I trusted him 100% with our children while they were growing up, and granddaughter too, when she came along. My first husband Bob, knew a few Gypsy Joker riders in the later 1960's and mid-1970's. My own background is filled with motorcycles - I rode them, and drove them, until our daughter came into the picture. I am not ignorant of motorcycles or motorcycling life. When Dave died in 2014, he died a Christian - he said the time he spent with us in our home living the Christian Lifestyle, changed his outlook and turned his life around - he had started attending a church in Longbeach-WA, when he moved there in the late 1980's. He never rode his Harley again to Sturgis.

Holland and his family members think Sturgis is mecca (he was at his brother's house yesterday - and this is August; I'm sure Sturgis was discussed), and they don't feel that a person claiming Christianity has to change their life around - that is why Holland scraps with me every chance he gets; the devil he entertains rises up in him and he can't help himself from nitpicking me about my Faith (100% sold-out Christianity: real Christianity, not the Redmill brand) - which leads to arguing; and I'm getting better at not raising to the bait. I know he's being mean-spirited, and I also know that Elohim is dealing with him about things he doesn't want to acknowledge, or change yet.

So, while he was gone, cooling his temper down … I put on some happy Shabbat music, and continue to wait on Elohim to bring forth His Plan for our Life together.

I saw an instrument in this video that I'd never seen before, so I researched it, and found that it is called a hurdy-gurdy … I remember Donovan, a 1960's musician singing about a hurdy-gurdy man :-)

RESURRECTION WEEK 2024~Thai Food, Long Beach-WA

April 29th: This morning Holland had an early appointment in Longview to get cortisone shots in both knees; I opted to stay home. I am not a morning person in general, and I didn't sleep well at all, last night.

I was surprised when I woke up and saw him sitting in his recliner - I was sleeping so soundly, I didn't hear him come in: and I had thought he'd spend the better part of the Day in Longview, visiting friends and family members.

I was wheezing (Holland could hear the wheezing clear across the room) so I blew into my Peak Flow Meter Reader - and was not happy with what it read; so, I blew into it two more times and adamantly refused to go to ER. Holland prayed while going after his emergency inhaler (which is significantly stronger than mine). I took a few puffs … and drank a strong cup of coffee to open my airways, and help clear the mental cobwebs.

A dangerous reading, this morning …

Caffeine is medically proven to improve airways function, for up to 4 hours, in people with asthma.

While I was unwinding and working on getting my lung power up to sniff, Holland called around to find an RV Park that could fit Independence - and found one in Ocean Park: we need to empty the black tanks, and getting back into place on David's Lot will tear his wet yard up … and we don't want to do that; so, we need someplace else to set up until things dry out. We can stay at the RV Park for 14 days: looking at the weather forecast, it doesn't appear that 14 days will be long enough, but it's the best we can do at the moment.

Hopefully, the rains will stop and the sun will come out soon.

Anyhow, Holland secured a place for us tomorrow; we'll see what happens after that.

We first drove to Ocean Park to check the RV Park out: it is clean, and looks like an easy in/easy out set up.

Then we decided to drive the opposite direction to Seaview, to watch the waves, and bring take-out home.

On our way to the Seaview Approach, I noticed that the Thai Restaurant was open! We have been wanting to try this place out every time we are hunkered down here … but every time we drove past the building, it was dark as a tomb and the window sign read, "Closed". We decided to check it out on our way back up Main Street ;-)

This beach is closed to vehicles - but, obviously jackasses cannot READ clearly marked signs.

On occasion, Washington State closes sections of the Long Beach Peninsula to vehicle traffic, to protect the vulnerable snowy plover - a small wading bird.

The western snowy plover is a federally threatened and state endangered shorebird in Washington State. No in-house seating, & very cramped quarters; but the workers were friendly, and service was quick.

The Fall Chinook, often referred to as "a silver" (because their meat is white at maturity) is the largest salmon, and can weigh in at 70 pounds … and 3 or 4 feet long. Holland says that by the time they are mature, they are black and shedding skin (then referred to as "tules = too-lees") - and all they are good for then, is fish bait because they stink and taste very gamey.

The pretty rainbow color is when they are the best to catch and eat.

The 'World's largest Spitting Clam' is interesting. I understand that if one inserts a quarter, it will actually {spit} water on demand. But, it also spits freely every hour, on the hour.

We had hot food - and wanted to enjoy it hot: we did not have a quarter, or an hour to spare ;-)

I remember this frying pan from my childhood days, here at the Beach; this giant cooking utensil is not just any frying pan; it is a Guinness World Record Official frying pan.

This 20-ft. frying pan was actually used: crafted in 1941, this enormous 1,300-pound cookware (14 feet long from the bottom to the top of the handle, and 9 feet 6 inches in diameter at the rim) was commissioned to promote the first annual clam festival. It was used to make a clam fritter that required over 200 clams, with nearly 20,000 people showing up to enjoy a bite.

Today, you can’t cook in it … and over time, it has been surpassed in subsequent years by other towns with ambitious tourist pulls: but it’s a local icon ;-)

On our way home to enjoy our tasty meals, we dropped a case of water off at a neighbor's house; Holland had picked it up while in Longview this morning: Denise uses bottled water for her parrots - and her truck is currently on the fritz; a case of water is heavy - too heavy to haul home on the transit bus.

We don't mind lending a helping hand.

Once home, we opened our meal boxes … and enjoyed a tasty meal :-)

Holland watched YouTube vids; and I watched an online movie.

Afterwards, I blew into my Peak Flow Meter Reader, and was gratified to read that though my airflow is still low - it's better than it was earlier :-)

But the inhaler is still needed until the reading climbs higher :-(

I also asked Holland how his Dr. visit went: Holland says the knee shots really aren't working, so his doctor is scheduling a consultation with a surgeon … so, we'll be sticking around in WA for that.

And that's okay with me: Holland's knees hurt him - if he can get some kind of relief, that is more important than anything else.

He also talked to her about the oxygenizer; and no decision was reached on that issue.

2 THESSALONIANS ~ Chapter 1/Thursday Bible Study

Since Apostle Paul's 1st Letter, the seeds of false doctrine have been sown (biblically used as a metaphor for one's actions and reaping for the results of those actions) among the Thessalonians; causing them to wander (roam, ramble, rove, traipse, meander mean to go about from place to place usually without a plan or definite purpose) from the truth if their Faith. *Paul removes those destructive seeds and again plants the seeds of truth. He begins by commending the ^believers on their faithfulness in the midst of persecution (harassment or punishment in a manner designed to injure, grieve, or afflict; specifically to cause suffering because of belief), and encourages them by stating that present suffering will be repaid with future glory. Therefore, in the midst of persecution, expectation (a belief about what might happen in the future) can be high.

Paul then deals with the central matter of this letter to them: a misunderstanding, spawned by false teachers regarding the coming Day of the Lord. Despite reports to the contrary, that #Day has not yet come - and Paul recounts the events that must first take place. Laboring (to work, great effort, toiling or grind away) for the ##Gospel, rather than lazy (unwilling to physically work, or engage in energic activity) resignation (feeling or showing acceptance that something unwanted or unpleasant will happen, or cannot be changed); is the proper response.

As the 2nd Letter in Paul's Thessalonian correspondence, this Letter was entitled, 'Pros Thesalonikeis B' - the "Second to the Thessalonians". The external attestation (an official verification of something as true or authentic) to the authenticity (the quality of being authentic - "the real deal") of this Letter as a Pauline epistle is even stronger than that for the 1st Thessalonian Letters. Internally, the vocabulary, the style, and the doctrinal content support the claims in vv. 1:1 & 3:17, that this Letter was indeed written by Apostle Paul.

In Chapter 1 of this Letter, Paul gives thanks for the growing faith and love of the Thessalonians, and assures them of their ultimate deliverance from those who are persecuting them (v. 1:3-10). They are encouraged to patiently endure (wait out) their afflictions (the state of being in pain or trouble), knowing that **Yeshua will judge their persecutors when He is "revealed from ^^Heaven with His mighty ***angels, in flaming fire" (vv. 1:7 & 8). Before Paul moves to the next topic, he concludes this section with a prayer for the spiritual welfare of his readers (vv. 1:11 & 12).

2 THESSALONIANS ~ Chapter 1

Thanksgiving for Their Growth (vv. 1 thru 4)

"Paul, ****Silvanus, and *****Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in ******Elohim, and Yeshua: grace to you and peace from Elohim and Yeshua (1 Corinthians 1:3). We are bound to thank Elohim always for you, brethren, as is fitting; because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you abounds (to increase) towards each other, so that we ourselves boast (boasting in the Lord involves us giving glory, praise and honor to God for who he is and the good things he has done. Boasting in the Lord is not self-seeking or self-gratifying; rather it is centered around the Lord God who deserves all our glory and praise) of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations (distress or suffering resulting from oppression or persecution; also, a trying experience) that you endure …

Encouragement in Their Persecution (vv. 5 thru 10)

… which is manifest (to make evident or certain by showing or displaying) evidence of the righteous judgment of Elohim, that you may be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you also suffer (Philippians 1:28 & 1 Thessalonians 2:14); since it is a righteous (in its deeper spiritual meaning, righteousness is the quality of being right in the eyes of God, including character (nature), conscience (attitude), conduct (action), and command (word). Righteousness is, therefore, based upon God's standard because He is the ultimate Lawgiver (Isaiah 33:22)) thing with Elohim to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know Elohim, and on those who do not obey the gospel of Yeshua. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the **Lord and from the glory of His power (Deuteronomy 33:2), when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His ^^^saints and to be admired (look at with pleasure, respect, or warm approval) among all those who believe, because our testimony (firsthand authentication of a fact = evidence; a solemn declaration usually made orally by a witness ) among you was believed.

Prayer for Elohim's Blessing

Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His His goodness and the work of Faith with power (Colossians 1:12 & 1 Thessalonians 1:3), that the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you - and you in Him - according to the grace of our God and Lord Yeshua (Colossians 3:17)."

*Apostle Paul = known as Saul before he converted to Christianity (Acts 9), was the chief killer of Christians following Yeshua’s death, resurrection, and ascension – being the foremost witness to the stoning of Stephen (Acts 7).

The Apostle Paul was one of the most influential leaders of the early Christian Church. He played a crucial role in spreading the gospel to the Gentiles (non-Jews) during the first century, and his missionary journeys took him all throughout the Roman empire.

**Yeshua Ha’Mashiach: is Hebrew for “Jesus the Messiah”; the name Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Yeshua.

Christ (from the Hebrew word, Ha’Mashiach ישוע המשיח & the Greek word, Christos/khris-tos) = The Anointed, Yeshua the Messiah, in both languages.

Lord Jesus Christ (in Greek: Kyrios Iēsous Christos) = the most formal title for Jesus (Yeshua). It occurs often in the New Testament letters.

The word “Lord” has a wide range of uses; it can be a simple respectful “Sir” or a more formal, “Master.” But the New Testament also uses “Lord” of God. The word “Christ” is the anglicized form of the Greek word meaning “anointed one” or “Messiah.” “Lord Jesus Christ” reminds us that Jesus is both the promised Messiah and our God.

***Angel: (n) – a spiritual being in position of attendant, agent, or messenger of Elohim (often represented in human form with wings and a long robe).

****Silas or Silvanus (/ˈsaɪləs/; Greek: Σίλας/Σιλουανός; fl. 1st century AD) was a leading member of the Early Christian community, who according to the New Testament accompanied Paul the Apostle on his second missionary journey.

Silas is chiefly remembered as the companion of the Apostle Paul who was arrested with him at Philippi (Acts 16:19-40). They were beaten severely and confined in the inner prison, with their feet in stocks. There they sang hymns in the night, and an earthquake shook the prison, and released them - which led to the jail keeper's immediate conversion.

Silas was a Hellenistic Jew who, it seems, was also a Roman citizen (Acts 16:37); a fellow missionary with Paul, and a “faithful brother” (1 Peter 5:12).

*****Timothy = son of the devout Jewish woman, Eunice, and a Greek father, Timothy became a follower of Yeshua Ha’Mashiach when Apostle Paul preached the Gospel in Lystra, Timothy’s hometown. Paul invited the young convert to accompany him on his second missionary journey; and was sent to Thessalonica to strengthen the fellowship there. After another journey with Paul, Timothy was sent to Corinth to straighten out some problems upsetting the fellowship there.

Timothy later looked after Paul during Paul’s imprisonment. Timothy subsequently was asked to go to Ephesus to represent Paul, and received the two letters from Paul that bear Timothy’s Name. Timothy – these letters reveal, was like a son to Paul.

The last word in the New Covenant about this sensitive, sickly, but faithful young helper was that he was imprisoned but finally released. Acts 16:1, 17:14-15, 18:5, 19:22 & 20:4; Romans 16:21; 1 Corinthians 4;17 & 16:10; 2 Corinthians1:1 & 19; Colossians 1:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:1, 3:2, & 6; 2 Thessalonians 1:1; 1 & 2 Timothy; Philemon 1; and Hebrews 13:23.

******Elohim (Hebrew: אֱלֹהִים, romanized: ʾּlōhīm: [(eloˈ(h)im]) is a Hebrew word meaning "Gods – Father, Son, & Holy Spirit". Although the word is plural in form, in the Hebrew Bible it usually refers to a single deity “Behold, the Lord – the Lord is One”, particularly the God of Israel.

#The phrase “the Day of Christ” or “the Day of the Lord Jesus” is unique to the Apostle Paul. Paul also called the Day of Christ “that Day” in his last letter. The phrases are found in: 1 Corinthians 1:8, 3:13, 5:5; 2 Corinthians 1:14; Philippians 1:6, 10 & 2:16; 2 Timothy 1:18 & 4:8.

On the other hand, the phrase, “the Day of The Lord” (also called “that Day”) is common throughout the Old Covenant = Abrahamic: the prophets referred constantly to it. In the New Covenant = Gospel, Yeshua Ha’Mashiach, Paul and Peter referred to it. Some of those passages are as follows: Isaiah 2:12, 13:6 & 9, and 34:8; Ezekiel 13:5 & 30:3; Joel 1:15, 2:1, 11, & 31, and 3:14; Amos 5:18 & 5:20; Obadiah 1:15; Zephaniah 1:7, 14; Zechariah 14;1; Malachi 4:5; Matthew 24:1-51; Acts 2:20; Romans 2:5; 1 Thessalonians 5;2; 2 Thessalonians 2:2; 2 Peter 3:10 and Revelation 1:10 … and “that Day” phrases can be found in Isaiah 2:11, 17, 20 & 3:18 – this Day is a time of terror, darkness, and wrath: it is a “Day of Visitation”, Isaiah 10:3. A “Day of the wrath of The Lord”, Ezekiel 7:19, and “the Great Day of The Lord”, Zephaniah 1:14.

##Gospel: the word is derived from the Anglo-Saxon term, god-spell, meaning “good story”; Biblically speaking, gospel is a rendering of the Latin evangelium and the Greek euangelion, meaning “good news” or “good telling”.

^Believer: someone who has put faith and trust in the redemptive work of Yeshua Ha'Mashiach through His death on the cross and subsequent resurrection.

^^Heaven: The Hebrews acknowledge three heavens – the atmosphere surrounding Earth; the firmament of outer space, in which the stars are placed; and the heaven of Heavens, or third heaven, which is he residence of Jehovah.

Among Christians, Heaven is the place where the omnipresent God of Gods dwells and manifests His supreme glory; this habitation of God is represented by the residence of angels and the blessed spirits of those who are rewarded eternal salvation.

^^^Saint = In its most basic sense, a saint is a “holy one,” someone who is set apart for Elohim’s special purposes. As a result, every follower of Yeshua Ha’Mashiach is a Saint. In most of his letters, the Apostle Paul refers to the recipients as saints, including the church at Corinth, where there were significant moral and theological problems! The New Covenant writers draw their use of the word saints (“holy ones”) from the Old Covenant (e.g., Exod 31:13; Lev 11:45, 19:2; Dan 7:18, 27). Particularly important is Exodus 19:5-6, where Elohim refers to Israel as “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” 1 Peter 2:9 applies this same language to believers: “you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

MY POOR LUV~SICK DADDY; Quartzsite-AZ

Holland is pretty sick today with a chest cold; it started last night, but he refused to let me drive him into Yuma (2 hours away) for medical attention - Quartzite has a medical clinic just up the street … and Parker has a clinic too (about half an hour away) but Holland will need specialized lung ailment care - chest inflammation is a serious thing with him.

So, this morning, seeing how sick he was, I waved the Wife Card around telling him that if he isn't feeling much better by Tuesday … I'm driving him to ER in Yuma. NO arguments from him will be accepted.

Sometimes wives have to push through their husband's stubborn streak; there was a lot in that rib Yeshua used to make Eve ;-)

Chest colds with Holland can quickly morph into full-on pneumonia in short order.

Right now, as I am typing this post, he is shivering; and has pulled his heavy coat on.

Holland is sick - low-grade fever; hot to the touch, coughing, nauseas & very drained. He was shaking so bad with fever chills that he pulled his heavy coat on.

Bleu trying to comfort Holland … he loves his daddy and is concerned, too, that Holland is so lethargic.

He hasn't been able to eat, and he really isn't drinking enough fluids - he has swallowed some water, and drank an entire small bottle of Gatorade; but that is not enough fluids for a sick body … my man is 6'4" and very stubborn.

I am concerned.

He slept for a bit in the recliner.

So, when he tried to watch TV and some YouTube videos … and kept nodding off, even dropping things - I kissed him, and ushered him upstairs, to bed; checking on him every hour on the hour. He slept for several hours, thank God.

I have petitioned prayer from Prayer Partners, and we pray my poor luv will be much better tomorrow.

Totally healed would be a real blessing ;-)
